Please join us tomorrow for our monthly breakfast meeting! August's Good Morning Truckee focuses on Housing Updates in our community. We will welcome Lynn Baumgartner, Housing Administrative Analyst with the Town of Truckee, who will update us on Truckee's housing programs, including their newest program, Rooted Renters. Lori Bradford with Oakview Insurance Services will present about the state of homeowners and fire insurance and provide an update regarding the FAIR plan. Taylor Russo with with Guild Mortgage will provide a market update and share details on the Chamber's Employee Mortgage Program that is available to all Truckee Chamber of Commerce members.

Good Morning Truckee is a community forum to provide timely, relevant information on a variety of topics. It is open to the public – everyone is invited. It is held the third Tuesday of every month at Truckee Town Hall from 7:45 - 9:15 a.m. Good Morning Truckee is offered in person and is recorded for viewing at a later date if you are unable to attend in person. Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. and the program starts promptly at 8:00 a.m. Ticket price is $10 for Truckee Chamber members and $15 for the general public and includes a continental breakfast, fresh-brewed coffee, and a chance to win a door prize.

Following the Pass Fire in Truckee, as well as Sunday’s wildfire safety power outage caused by the Gold Ranch Fire in Verdi, Truckee Donner Public Utility District urges customers to prepare for the possibility of prolonged power outages during wildfire season. NV Energy—TDPUD’s primary energy transmission supplier—and TDPUD both take actions during wildfire season to help mitigate wildfire risk to the community, but these safety programs can result in electric power outages for up to several days without much notice. Truckee Fire Protection District and partners also worked throughout the night last night to comb the area for any hot spots. All evacuation warnings were lifted as of 8:30 a.m. this morning. Thanks to all of our emergency responders.

Tomorrow, join the first Wednesdays Truckee Climate Hub Social at Lift Workspace from 5:15 - 6:45 p.m. The social will feature five Tahoe Basin CivicSpark Fellows who will talk about projects they've been working on in the Tahoe region during their 11-month fellowship. CivicSpark is an AmeriCorps program that connects early-career professionals to roles in the public sector to build local capacity for climate change, water resources, and housing affordability challenges.

The community is invited to celebrate Truckee's Dark Skies on Friday! The Town of Truckee will announce the winners of its "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" photo contest at a community reception at the Steve Randall Truckee Community Recreation Center on July 26, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The well-received night-time photography competition, which garnered an impressive 88 submissions, was launched earlier this year to encourage residents and visitors to limit light pollution and enjoy the natural beauty of the night sky.

This celebration is also a reminder of the Town of Truckee's Dark Skies Lighting Rebate Program in collaboration with Climate Transformation Alliance and the Sierra Business Council. Residents can receive:

- $75 per fixture (up to 8 fixtures) for residential and small multi-family homes
- $50 per fixture (up to 50 fixtures) for commercial buildings and larger multi-family homes
- $20 additional incentive bonus per fixture for motion sensors
