Mount Lemmon is absolutely spectacular ride. February through April is the high season for road biking Mt. Lemmon. March and April is absolutely idyllic.

You start off at about 2,500 ft surrounded by saguaro cactus and mesquite trees and climb as high as 8,500 ft to pine tree vegetation and cool air.

The road is in great shape with the wide shoulder most of the ride.

Those of us who are locals LOVE biking Lemmon during the summer. Lemmon is a very doable ride during the hot months. You just have to get up early!

If you are looking to start your cycling season early and enjoy the views of desert in full blossom, April and May are ideal cycling months in Tucson.

Mornings are cool so that you can cover the smooth roads around the desert museum, Gates pass and the Saguaro park.

It is already warm enough to climb Mount Lemmon all the way to 9000 ft elevation. And relaxing by the pool and hot tub is great for recovery!
