The orphans of Tonle Sap Lake

It was nice to spend time with these beautiful and happy Orphans. They live in the floating village located on Tonle Sap Lake, Cambodia.

The kids were so happy to see us and lined up to get the little bit of food we had brought them. Our boat guide told us that many tours in the floating village never visit the orphanage.

If you find yourself in the floating village, ask to be taken to the children orphanage. All these kids need is food to sustain them through the low season when there are no tourist. A 5 kg bag of rice can feed the orphanage for four days and can be bought at the floating village market.

Dhammayangyi Pahto is the largest Temple in Bagan.

Legend has it that the pyramidical temple which features very fine brickwork was built by a wicked king (an angry ogre). If the workers made a building mistake, he would throw them off the temple roof to their death. It seems that he must have been assassinated by his workers. The temple was never finished.
