@the.jewel.cafe.tucson gets all the produce for their sandwiches, salads, and fresh pressed juices from a local farmers market. The bread from the sandwiches is from @florasmarketrun
Each ingredient is delicious by itself, combining them makes them some of the best in Tucson. Art from the chef and local artists like @ignacio_garcia_art decorate the walls. The owners used to work at @chocolateiguanaonlacholla when they were at this spot on 4th Ave, now they have their own spot! Even the pumpkin spice cookie crumbles on top of the whipped cream were amazing.

This was a surprisingly unique burrito (which is good because Iām getting sick of the same stuff) that was packed with flavor and veggies, meats, hash browns, etc. The salsas ere very good as well. I donāt score customer service, but this place was šÆ with the friendly staff and owner on site working side by side with them almost every day. The cooked veggies and the way the ingredients were perfectly layered really stood out to me. Anytime someone adds chorizo to something Iām eating, Iām a happy dude, and they add it to all their hash browns automatically! You should definitely check this place out sometime soon.

(Paid on my own) St Maryās Mexican Food was voted best breakfast burritos in Tucson according to a poll by @welcometotucsonarizona so I had to check it out. I invited Alexis AKA @azdigitaldiary to help me score after she commented that she couldnāt wait for my next burrito review to come out. The staff was super friendly, and added anything I wanted to the burrito without up charge. So this house made beef chorizo, bacon, bean, potato, cheese, and egg burrito was still only $6.65 (including tax)! They even grilled it for me perfectly, so my tortilla was crunchy in parts, soft in others. They donāt normally grill them, but they will do anything you want within their means without hesitation. This was a great burrito for a great price making it one of the best values in breakfast burritos that Iāve had so far!

Tied with best tortilla Iāve had so far, but they didnāt grill it so I canāt give it full points (personal preference). I was lucky enough to run into the owners of @percheronmexicangrill while they were playing with their new breakfast menu! They let me order their new breakfast burrito plate, which comes with 2 āsmallerā burritos, with sides of beans, potatoes, fresh avocado, and grilled peppers. This and the other breakfast plates (chilequiles, scrambled eggs) come with your choice of protein or veggies for $11.99. I opted to have my burritos bacon wrapped (no brainer) for $2 more. This menu will go live this week. This is the 444 W Ajo location (the location on 12th Ave doesnāt offer breakfast). This location has a drive thru as well if you donāt have time to eat inside.

(Comped) As soon as we walked in the door to Casa Asada (2502 N Campbell) we were warmly greeted by the whole staff! I hadnāt even told them I was there to highlight their Sonoran Restaurant Week menu yet, and with the music, delicious drinks, and flavorful food, it really created an energy and vibe that made me want to hang out there eating and drinking all day. Our server Maria was knowledgeable, friendly, and had lots of great suggestions. The manager came by and said hi, and even the cooks in the open kitchen were open to talk with the guests and crack jokes. I canāt wait to go back with the family for another round.

(Paid on my own). @barista_del_barrio is my next in the quest for the best breakfast burrito in Tucson. This place is very popular and I had a ton of people recommend it when I asked people who they liked the best. The tortilla was great and grilled in a panini press. They let you mix and match proteins for the filling, which is cool, and the machaca and chorizo were recommended. All breakfast burritos come with egg, potatoes, beans, and cheese as well. The potatoes were a little dry and not crunchy. I prefer potatoes that are tender inside crunchy outside. I didnāt really see any beans, so that tells me I could have used more. It was also light on the cheese. The salsas were decent. The weight was low, and the cost was relatively high (more than $1/oz), so that hurt their overall score the most. As a comparison, the lady selling pocket burritos out of her trunk in Marana charged $10 for 3 burritos weighing 16oz, so she scored about 7 more points than Barista in those categories. The other categories are based on my personal preferences, and Iām far from an expert. I always recommend you try these places for yourself and formulate your own score!
