Ice skating outside in Tucson. I’ve seen the fake plastic stuff before, but this is the real deal. Cool and odd at the same time.
Leaf Cutter ants along the Loop. They are farmers! They don’t eat the leaves, they carry them back to their nests and use them for their fungus gardens, which they cultivate.
Dumpster Fire on 7th Street
I've heard the term many times of course. Recently, for example: "Man, the Arizona men's basketball season has turned into a total dumpster fire!" Today, however, I finally got to experience the real deal!
Mighty muddy
The mighty Santa Cruz river just west of downtown. Well, more muddy than mighty.
Hotel Congress Patio
While I'm not one of those folks that hates snow, quite the contrary, I have to say it's nice to be able to enjoy a patio this time of year.
Sonoran Glass
Bit of drizzle today. Time to warm up by the ol' blast furnace at Sonoran Glass School.
La Placita coming down
For more than 3 years I've been telling people that La Placita would be bulldozed. That day has arrived. Its flawed 1970's design no longer works. You know what still works? All the old adobes they destroyed to make room for La Placita. The remaining half of Barrio Viejo could be renamed Barrio Costoso. I know hindsight 20/20 and all, but que horrible.
Behind the scenes
Fun night ride with the folks from Wanderlove.
Neighborhood cricket match
Puppies not included
Oh yes, cyclovia did involve biking. BYOP.
Incoming!
In case biking or the music wasn't enough, Cyclovia had ziplines.
Cyclovia music
Enjoying Cylcovia on the south side. Closed off streets and music . . . super!
Trusty steed Kawasaki
I've reopened up for the fall. I was in Colorado and saw some cowboys herding cattle on motorcycles. Perhaps trade them out for fat bikes and a new sport is born!
Hooray for Everything
Smartphones are really amazing things, but great sound recording is not their strong suit. That being said, take a listen to what I stumbled across while leading a tour across the U of A campus. The Simpson's watching dude inside me had me primed for Hooray for Everything, but after listening for 3 seconds I dropped the snarkiness and just enjoyed.
