When @thebootsappeal called and asked our thoughts on @velonews traveling to @thegravelhouse for their annual bike/gear review trip. We immediately asked how we could be of help. Patagonia is a borderlands destination, an hour and change from the regions urban hub, Tucson. The big city has the airport, bike shops, eclectic food scene & wide array of business resources. It was a natural fit to then include our friends @visittucson into this project, rounding out a true tourism focused film. There is a massive network of southern Arizona gravel roads, and as you depart city limits they slowly begin to open up opportunities for incredible days on the bike. We’re honored to live in Patagonia and thrilled to know it’s now among a list of the nation’s best small gravel riding towns. Being named “The new gravel mecca” comes with quite a bit of responsibility however; something we take seriously and will help grow respectfully. Please remember, Patagonia is a town of 800 people. Ranching has dominated the landscape for centuries. Cherish the gift that the San Rafael Valley is. Camp only on Coronado National Forest system lands, wave to ranch trucks & Border Patrol agents & stop into a few of our local businesses. We cyclists have a responsibility to maintain these incredible public lands and the communities that provide access to them. Teeth to the wind, Gravel Heads.
