On Wednesday April 27, the German Union ver.di has announced a strike for the airports Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, Dortmund and partly also Hannover for ground handling, check-in and security services, as well as a section of the fire brigades. Jerusalem - Israel is seeing a drop in its tourism flow in the first half of 2015. Only 4.1 million foreign tourists made overnight stays from January 2015 which is 25 percent less than the same period last year.

Eilat felt a huge drop of 46 percent. Other affected tourist spots include the Dead Sea, Jerusalem, and the Galilee, with drops of 34%, 27% and 29%, respectively. Haifa and Tel Aviv were least affected by the decline in tourism, but still saw drops of 17% and 14% as compared to last year.

The hotel industry in Herzliya received 4 percent less visitation in overseas booking falling from last year for overnight stays to 96,000 in 2015. Inbound travelling has increased with more Israelis traveling more within the country, adding up to some 5.9 million overnight stays in the first six months of 2015 – an eight percent increase from last year. Most visitations were made to Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

The State of Israel needs to focus more on tourism. More investments have to be made to change the present figures. The state has to make a clear decision to promote tourism. The industry can no longer be abandoned and relegated felt the state authorities."
