Looking at the neon sign on this art deco beauty, you might think the Mayo Motor Inn is a motel, but it isn't - for humans anyway. It's an "inn" for cars.

Located directly across from Tulsa's iconic Mayo Hotel, and just two blocks off the early alignment of Route 66, the Mayo Motor Inn was designed by Leon B. Senter built in 1950.

It's on the National Register of Historic Places, and definitely worth the short detour if you're driving the route through Oklahoma.

Inside the Kennedy Building Atrium at 4th & Boston.

Dr. Kennedy was known for treating gun shot wounds. He left the bullet in place but cleaned the wound with turpentine. He never asked the details of the wound.
