For those interested in visiting Tunkhannock and bringing a fur baby along, we're happy to share that our gorgeous new property, The River Retreat, allows for pets!

The River Retreat is the ideal year-round getaway for a single, couple, or small group up to 4 who want to relax on an ~1 acre property overlooking the river. We hope that allowing small pets makes it more accessible for our guests to travel with their little buddies in tow! ❤️

The White House on Warren is the perfect place to stay for a visit to Tunkhannock because you'll be within walking distance to downtown and you'll love this uniquely restored house!

Many have asked so we'll share the most common reasons that guests choose to stay at The WHOW while in Tunkhannock! Many of our guests have chosen to book this space for:
-A place to stay while in town for local weddings
-Baby showers/small events
-Trips back "home"
-Exploring our area
-Employees/independent contractors working in the area

This is a tough one to read but it is part of the local history of Tunkhannock.

If you read the article, you'll see that Dr. B. E. Bidleman, was the coroner and one of the attending physicians. Dr. Bidleman was the son of Tunkhannock blacksmith Deemer Bidleman who is the first person we've found to have lived in the house at 71 Warren Street, now known as The White House on Warren. Dr. Bidleman grew up in this house!

For those who love to do local research, there are MANY articles on newspapers.com about local residents being brought to the house for urgent medical care! I often think of that when I'm in the house and think about what an important part the Bidleman family had in our local history!

Isn't this interesting?

Deemer Bidleman was a blacksmith who moved to Tunkhannock from Bloomsburg in 1850. He worked at the Gearhart Foundry just down the street from where he lived at 71 Warren Street, which is now The White House on Warren!

I'd love to find the "large crayon portrait" of the late Deemer Bidleman and take photo of it so we can hang it in The White House on Warren!
