GUIDE TO HELPING TYBEE TURTLES 🐢

🐢 Fill in all holes and knock down sand castles or other obstacles
🐢 No flashlights on the beach at night, but red lights if you really have to (you'd be surprised how good your night vision is)
🐢 All nests are federally protected. No bothering nests, stakes, signs, eggs, or turtles
🐢 Pick up your trash, and other people's too if needed
🐢 Help educate others who don't know - a lot of visitors still don't know about our turtle population, so share, share, share and kindly educate. No need to be mean, most people just don't know.
🐢 If you see a turtle, stay away & give her space. Even if she's started nesting, stay back. No lights at all. If people are harassing her, call the Tybee non-emergency police line at 912-786-5600
🐢 You can message us here if you need anything sea turtle related. We try to respond but we're all volunteer so give us some time. Our volunteers will be on the beach before dawn every day
🐢 Don't mess with tracks or body pits. We have to see these field signs to do our work. I know it feels like you're helping to mark the area for us, but we promise, you're making our job ten times harder. Please leave everything alone.

Lastly, enjoy our beautiful beach and the sea turtles who love Tybee too!!!

A Lighthouse Christmas

December 11th and 18th

Please join us for a unique opportunity to travel back through time and experience the sights and customs of Christmas at the Tybee Island Light Station in the days of our last Lighthouse Keeper and his family. This quaint depiction of holiday cheer in the 1930s and 40s illustrates the traditions of a simpler time by a small family whose closest, and sometimes only, neighbors were the military families of Fort Screven. Enjoy the twinkle of the Christmas Lights across the island from the top of the Lighthouse, carols, hot cider and the joy of the season by the warm glow of candlelight.
