ETV Parents,

We are having a great week of ETV so far down here in Tygh Valley, even with the heat. There are some amazing students here at camp!

However, you may have heard that this evening, we have been alerted that there is a fire burning just north of the Fairgrounds between Tygh Valley and Dufur. While we are currently not at immediate risk, we have been placed on the Level 2 “Get Set” evacuation plan. We are expecting a few local residents are moving some livestock to the fairgrounds to be kept safe.

Per our Emergency Action plans (Attached), we value people over stuff and following the recommendations of Wasco County Emergency Management. To be “Set", we are informing our students and asking them to pack a small overnight bag and ready their sleeping bag just in case conditions change and we are asked to evacuate. Again, we are told that we are not under any immediate risk so we will carry on with camp as we safely can. If conditions change and we are asked to leave, we have many options close that we can quickly move our people to and keep them safe.

We are in close contact with Wasco County Emergency Services and we have the latest information about what is happening and will do the best we can to keep parents informed of any changes. If you have questions, feel free to contact your church’s ministry leader. If your church’s ministry leader is not available, someone will be watching responses to this email. We are doing the best to keep the camp phone 360-600-8378 open for communication with the county, but you can call that at a last step.

ETV 2023 DAY 1: COMPLETE!!

We’ve been having so much fun at camp that we haven’t even posted about it yet 🤪 Everyone arrived safely yesterday and had a great first day of camp today.

Social media will be a little slower this year…until next time, trust we’re having a great week!

FUN FACT: With 330 students and staff, this year is the largest in ETV history!
•
Pray for students as staff this week as they have an amazing week and study 1 John.

DAY FOUR • DUFUR DAY

The RED group (Gateway) started out with a scavenger hunt in Dufur, ate lunch at the cafe, and ended the day back at camp competing in Olympic Games. Congratulations to Japrussia on your victory!

The YELLOW group (Harvest, Hockinson, Journey) spent the day at the lake boating and relaxing! What a fun day.

DAY THREE • SERVICE PROJECT
The GREEN group (Highland Baptist & The Well) spent the day serving the Wamic Fire and Rescue volunteers by washing their trucks and doing some yard work. And they had a blast doing it! 🚒

The BLUE group (BETHEL) went rafting on the Deschutes River and they had a blast on this hottest day of camp!

The truth is, you never really know what skills or tools you might need for a week at camp. Does one ever really expect to wrestle a cow 🐄 , have an ice cream sundae made on their head 🍨, or have a crazy dance party 💃?

Below is a general camp packing list, but if you have any camp hacks for things to bring, share them in our story!

• warm/cool clothes
• Bible
• notebook & pen
• toothbrush/paste
• shampoo
• pillow
• sleeping bag
• swimming suit
• socks
• plastic bag for wet/dirty clothes
• sunscreen
• sunglasses
• jeans
• closed-toed shoes for service project
• quarters for shower ($1 per 7 minutes of water)
• personal waterbottles
• masks for the week (at least 4)
