Tannery Creek in Naples is private now. Apparently since October.
Passing the information along so no one wastes a trip, or worse, unknowingly trespasses. I'm sure they have signs up, but you never know.

A few waterfalls involve water crossings. DO NOT attempt water crossings with high and turbulent water! The waterfalls will be there later, after the water levels drop to safer levels.
DO NOT get close to the sides of flooded waterways during times high and turbulent water levels.
Stay safe!

MEDIA RELEASE

Sheriff Brian Schenck reports that on today’s date members of the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of two subjects injured from a fall at Carpenters Falls in the Town of Niles. At approximately 4:06pm, the Cayuga County 911 Center received a 911 call that two persons had fallen from atop Carpenter’s Falls to the shallow pool below. Witnesses at the scene offered aid the two victims and successfully removed them from the pool to safety.

Both victims were removed from the ravine and medevaced to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse where they reportedly sustained no serious injuries at the time of this release. The names of the two victims, who are both in their late teens, will not be released at this time.

A number of witnesses who were hiking in the area were interviewed and it was determined that the fall sustained by both individuals was accidental.

Sheriff Schenck would like to remind local residents and those touring the area that Carpenter’s Falls can be safely viewed from Appletree Point Road. Experienced hikers wishing to see the terrain can do so with a series of trails that lead to the basin pool. Crossing over the protective guardrail at the top of the falls is a dangerous activity and the area is protected for good reason.

Assisting the Sheriff’s Office at the scene were the Cayuga County 911 Center, New Hope Fire Department, Sempronius Fire Department, Moravia Fire Department, Owasco Fire Department, SAVES Ambulance, Four Town Ambulance, Mercy Flight One & Two, Cayuga County High Angle Rescue Team and the Cayuga County Emergency Management Office.
