SEA TURTLE SEASON IS IN FULL SWING!
There are currently 14 nests on the Emerald Isle beach. We are excitedly waiting for the first hatchlings to emerge! Often, visitors see the female coming ashore to nest. If you are lucky enough to see this, please turn off all your flashlights and camera flash. It's especially important that you are very quiet and keep a long distance between you and the nesting turtle. Please step away and quietly contact the EI police at their non emergency number (252-354-2021). The police will notify the Sea Turtle Patrol.

SUMMER VACATION is not officially over until Labor Day Weekend! This year Labor Day is Monday, September 7th. Come for a long weekend or for a whole week! Please remember to fill in any holes dug while on the beach. There is an ordinance that requires you to fill in your holes prior to leaving the beach but more importantly...leaving deep holes is dangerous to our first responders and children and also to young hatchlings on their way to the ocean. Enjoy the beach and please leave nothing but footprints!
