At 7500 ft. elevation, Enchanted Nook has a warm and cozy atmosphere . Tongue and Groove Pine throughout the cabin gives it a Mountain feel. It is located off the road on a one acre lot surrounding by Tall Pines, giving a more secluded feeling. It has a fully stocke

d kitchen, washer and dryer and gas fireplace that is controlled by a wall switch (no Firewood to buy!) You can enjoy grilling on the back deck while enjoying a spectacular view of Sierra Blanca and Nogal Peak. We provide 300 mbps internet for the 3 Smart TV's -streaming (Netflix, Amazon, Roku) located in the bedrooms and living area with access to local channels from the Antenna. We offer central air and heat, Keurig, French Press and Mr. also, each bedroom and the living room have ceiling fans so you can enjoy the mountain air in the summer time. We have a fenced area for small dogs as mentioned in our house rules - a $30.00 pet fee will be applied to the guest upon confirmation of the booking - this is a separate fee/invoice from the rental. The cabin has a circular driveway with a level entry to the cabin and has additional parking to the side. If you are here during the snowy season, our paved road is usually cleared within a few hours of snow accumulation, but you may need four wheel drive during that period.

These guys are awesome! They rappel out of helicopters into hotspots - crazy but OMG without the 800 firefighters who answered the call for help, we would have been toast! They are the equivalent of Navy Seals on Land!
Thank you

Been a ride for the last 72 hours. The small 1 acre fire 10 days ago in the Wilderness joined forces with high winds Friday and Saturday- result this morning 6200 acres burned. Most of it was burning the dead trees from the 2012 fire that burned 200,000 acres. This was small change compared to that and totally different fuel to burn in that burn area.
Today little to no wind and planes will be working to contain the fire today.

The fire turned from a path to us last night and went north away from us.

All is good today and our friends are coming back.

We need to help firefighters to change legislation that ties their hands in a Wilderness fire.

Come see us and our little friends!

It is a better day!

Spent most of last night watching over the Nook due to a fire that was being allowed to burn within the monster 2012 Fire. It is about 7 miles away but the smoke was thick this morning. The size of the fire doubled overnight from 700 to 1500 acres

We were hosting one of our regular visitors but I had to advise them of the risks we were facing this morning. It was best that they return home and not deal with the smoke or the unknown.

It is several hours later and it appears the Forest Service heard our crys and began deploying air tankers on the 8th day after lightning started the fire. While they had good intentions to burn leftover fuel (dead trees from the 2012 fire), it was a bad call with no rain, windy conditions and on High alert due to dryness.

The firefighters are wonderful and hearing all the air tankers and helicopters dropping their loads to begin suppression is uplifting!

Pics are from last night, this morning and after lunch
The smoke is almost gone and we can see the mountains again. We are fine!

Our guest over New Years brought a pet as many of our guests do. This little one, named Sidney, was within our weight limit, didn’t shed, didn’t bark and was very use to staying in her safe place while at the Nook.

I got to hold her and WAS totally mesmerized! Something I will always remember!!!!

If you haven’t figured her out, she is a tiny 7 month old kangaroo, who preferred her pouch to anything we had to offer!
