What an amazing excursion, full of nature and adventure. I give you the Rio Secreto (Secret River). Took a Ferry from the ship (Cozumel) to Playa del Carmen, followed by a 30 minute bus ride. Well worth it. All equipment (wetsuit, water shoes, helmet w/light, and towels) is available for you upon arrival. We brought a change of clothes and excitement. 😂🤣 Be ready to be wowed. We booked our excursion through Carnival, but Rio Secreto does have a website. No cameras or phones are allowed in the caves (lockers w/locks are provided. 6 things you must know before going to Machu Picchu.
1. Consult your physician, you may need medication for elevation, nausea, and dizziness.
2. Check the weather, sunshine is not guaranteed. Wear a hat, sunglasses, bring sunscreen, and a poncho.
3. ���Use a guide. Guides are available once you reach the top (for a fee), or find one before you go to enhance your visit.
4. ���A lot of walking. Bring energy snacks, water (camelback recommended). Wear sweat resistant tops, pants, socks, and make sure you are fitted properly for your hiking boots.
5. ���Arrive early, beat the crowd. Less people means you can pace yourself, better photo opportunities, and you can see more.
