It was a record-breaking year at the 2024 Illinois State Fair - more than 773,000 people attended the 11-day event, the highest number on record. That’s nearly 66,000 more than the previous record set last year. Planning is now underway for the 2025 Illinois State Fair, which will be held August 7 through 17. We can’t wait to see you again!

Ride to Remember 9-11: Honoring Heroes

Don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs and blankets this Sunday, September 8, 2024, and join us along the parade route to honor our heroes and commemorate the lives lost on 9-11.

The City of Springfield is proud to participate in the 22nd annual "Ride to Remember 9-11," an event dedicated to remembering those who were lost and paying tribute to the First Responders and Heroes who showed extraordinary bravery.

Event Details:

📍 Location: Hall's Harley-Davidson, 2301 N. Dirksen Pkwy, Springfield, IL
🕘 Line-Up: 9:00 a.m.
🎤 Ceremony: 10:30 a.m.
🏍 Procession Starts: 10:40 a.m.

The sun is shining and the track crew is working their magic. Come join us today for not only one show, but two shows one this morning and one this afternoon. Gates open at 9AM, Practice at 10AM and Racing at 12PM. After the last main event of the first program fans will be allowed to go into the pits for 45 minutes and then We will start the show over! It's a yearly tradition! Lincoln rode down the giant slide with his Illinois State Police es**rt at the 2024 Illinois State Fair!

The officers are pleased to offer an excellent security detail as they slide down the iconic structure with Lincoln. This year, Lincoln wore his summer white suit (and the ISP remained in their dignified brown uniforms). It was great fun for the fair visitors to witness this annual event, and support our great law enforcement teams in Illinois.

The president will designate the Springfield Race Riot National Monument on Friday, the White House confirmed to The Post.

Another day in the life of a tourism director, yesterday Visit Springfield City of Springfield-Municipal Government welcomed Enjoy Illinois Deputy Director Daniel Thomas to the Capital City. Daniel was able to experience History Comes Alive and attend the Route 66 MotorHeads Bar & Grill, Museum & Entertainment Complex ‘Big Ron’ celebration - Springfield’s newest Route 66 attraction. The day ended at the final summer Levitt AMP Springfield Music Series presented by PNC Bank
with the smooth Latin sounds of Radio Free Honduras.

I had a fantastic time today participating in the History Cooks series at the Lincoln’s Home Complex. I discussed the origins of Charlie Parker’s Diner, the Breakfast Horseshoe and the experience of competing and winning the Thomas Breakfast Battle in 2015. The National Park Service does an excellent job hosting this series. A big thank you to Visit Springfield and LLCC for sponsoring the series.

I truly appreciated Charlie Parker’s for providing the cheese sauce and sausage gravy that I used today for the Horseshoes.
