Great White Bear Tours Great White Bear Tours, Inc. is a family owned and operated company incorporated in 1994. Today, Great White Bear Tours, Inc.

The owners, Don and Marilyn Walkoski, began transporting small groups of photographers out onto the tundra to view the polar bear migration in the Churchill Wildlife Management area. The tours gained popularity and Don began building larger Polar Rovers to accommodate larger groups. boasts a fleet of 12 custom built Polar Rovers and a mobile Tundra Lodge that is situated outside of Churchill on th

e tundra. The company operates during the months of June – November each year. We offer the following tours to our customers.

As 2024 comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on a year filled with unforgettable experiences, incredible wildlife encounters, and cherished connections with so many of you.

We’re filled with gratitude for all the memories made, the lessons learned, and the people who made this year so special. Thank you for being part of our journey.

As we welcome 2025, we’re excited for new adventures, more opportunities to explore, and the chance to continue sharing the magic of Churchill with all of you. Here’s to a year of wonder, connection, and growth!

This bear, with scars and blood-streaked fur, tells the story of life on the tundra—a constant battle for food, dominance and survival.

Polar bears are apex predators, yet even they face challenges in this unforgiving environment. The average life span of a polar bear in the wild is around 15–18 years, but some tagged polar bears have been recorded at over 30 years old, a testament to their resilience and adaptability in extreme conditions.

Every scar is a reminder of the strength required to survive.

After an incredibly busy bear season, we took a couple of days to catch up on some much-needed sleep and spent quality time together as a family. It was the perfect way to recharge after such an exciting and unforgettable season.

The cold weather has finally arrived in Churchill, though the bay remains ice-free for now. We're keeping our eyes on the horizon, hoping to see the bears venturing out soon.

Today, we said goodbye to our last Natural Habitat Adventures guests out at our Tundra Lodge. After an incredible 45 days of hosting guests on the tundra, our hardworking lodge staff finally stepped foot on solid ground today. Their dedication and passion for creating unforgettable experiences in the heart of polar bear country have been nothing short of amazing.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an unforgettable season of wildlife, northern lights, and tundra magic.

We have a very special guest back at the lodge this morning! Meet Van Gogh, a legendary polar bear who first captured our hearts back in 2018. Named for his unique one-ear look, Van Gogh caused quite the stir on his first visit, and he's been unforgettable ever since. He's a bit more rugged these days with a few new scars, but he's looking strong and healthy.

Seeing him again reminds us of the resilience and wild beauty of the Arctic.
