Christoph Hess talks about riders sitting behind the vertical:
“For me, the advice to every rider, is to ride in rising trot and light seat in canter, do it like this, and when you do this, then as a rider you get another feeling. My advice is use shorter stirrups, come as much as possible in rising trot, use a light seat in the canter, especially when you start, then you will get, from the rider's point of view, the right feeling, not sitting behind the vertical."

With the 🔥111 Temperatures this weekend hopefully everyone stays cooler!
I often like to soak my horses hay to help bring moisture to the stomach and intestines also id add a little extra salt. If they have to work in the heat, the old days I’d wet an extra white T-shirt and put it under the top of the bridle to help keep their head cooler. Frequently cooling the entire body off with a hose or in a creek.
I’d also hose off my horses before I tack up to cool the entire body down, then ride them wet.
