Nature Nerd Expeditions Hi my name is Aaron and I run and operate Nature Nerd Expeditions. It is a free tour service in SE Portland providing nature education to all who seek it!

Times have been tough and I want everyone to see the benefits Nature can give us. About me:
I am a nature educator with the city of Hillsboro going on 7 years now and have a total of 23 years naturalist experience. I have a B.S. degree in Zoology from TESC with a focus on Ornithology (study of birds) and was lucky enough to work on some research projects in some pretty cool areas before moving t

Free Walk tomorrow at 10am!

Meet me for a guided walk in Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge tomorrow morning @ 10am. Part of the free nature walk series every first Sunday of the month.

For February we'll talk about crazy winter weather, changing seasons and look for animals adapting their behavior to our changing winters.

Family friendly, bring weather appropriate clothes and binos if you have them. Always FREE, walk time around 2 hours.

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great holiday season and are looking forward to another great year filled with learning experiences in Nature! I wanted to share an update for you all.

Look out for my free library programs around the Portland area this year including birding and mushroom ID classes. Come spring I will be leading a FREE guided mushroom hike in Tillamook state Forest, date and time TBD. Also, as usual, come join me for FREE guided Nature Walks every 1st Sunday of each month in Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge.

I also wanted to share my species list from Costa Rica! I was fortunate enough to spend Christmas in Cahuita, on the SE Caribbean side near Panama. I saw some amazing species including some highly endangered ones that are crucial for the Rainforests survival. One of the biggest lessons you learn when exploring the rainforest is that everything in nature is connected.
