At WOA, our greatest passion is connecting people with nature. While out in the elements, we always prioritize the safety and well-being of our clients.

Over the past few weeks, our staff has undergone rigorous training to prepare for the 2025 season. This photo showcases two types of rescues used to help return a guest safely to their boat.

All of our guides are certified by the American Canoe Association and are highly skilled in trip preparation, paddle techniques, and rescue maneuvers. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced paddler, we’re committed to providing a safe and enjoyable adventure for everyone!

Mallard ducks may be common, but their love language is anything but. There’s a reason they’re number one! 🥇

These dabbling ducks are often spotted in ponds, lakes, and wetlands, where they gracefully glide across the water in bonded pairs.

Mallards are known for their elaborate courtship displays—head bobbing, synchronized swimming, and even a little quacking serenade. 🦆

In honor of a fast approaching Valentine’s season, we would like to share with you the mating habits and courtship rituals of local NC birds, starting with: Ospreys!

These raptors can be spotted around bodies of water hunting for fish. Their large, high-perched, nests are often found at the crown of tall trees or top of man-made structures.
