"This here's the wildest ride in the wilderness!" 🚂

Legend has it that soon after gold was first discovered here in the 1850s, eerie things began to happen. Trains would take off and race through tunnels—by themselves. 💰

After you arrive at the legendary Big Thunder Mining Company, descend into an abandoned mine shaft and board your train. As you enter the cursed cavern, the engine speeds up along the rickety track. Dodge exploding dynamite and falling boulders as you swoop around turns, drop into canyons and dart through the mysterious ghost town of Tumbleweed.

This is one of my top 3 rides in Disney World!🥇The original version is in Disneyland, but the track in WDW is inverted, so left turns become right turns, etc. Disney World also has a slightly longer track and faster speed, but Disneyland has a smoother ride and special effects indoors.

I believe this is a whole family coaster. It's thrilling and fun, but no huge drops or anything to keep you from just laughing through the ride!

Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure🪄

Long name for an INCREDIBLE coaster! I don't even know if it's a coaster as much as it is an experience! The seating in this is so unique and gives you two totally different experiences based off which one you choose - Motorbike or Sidecar.

I think this is a must do for all roller coaster or thrill enthusiasts! There are incredible animatronics, a drop, accelerations, and more surprises. I do think that even if you don't love huge roller coasters (that's me!), this is still a great option! I found it super fun and not too intense! 😁

What's your favorite part of this ride? Mine is the acceleration to go over the arch!

✨Travel Tip Tuesday✨

I took my 8 and 10 year old to Animal Kingdom yesterday. It was full sun and hovering around 98°. 🌞 We had water, got refills, found shade, walked through stores for A/C, but after about 4 hours my boys were ready to go. Most lines were over an hour wait (and that's not unreasonable or crazy busy).

For summer at any theme park, set lower expectations of yourself and your kids. As your travel advisor, I would encourage you to do these things in warmer weather 👇👇👇

🌞Stay at resorts with easy/quick transport to your favorite parks (think Skyliner, monorail, or Epcot's back entrance)
🌞Take a water bottle that you can constantly refill, even if you normally would not
🌞Invest in Genie+. Is it worth it to you to save 3-4 hours in line on a hot day?
🌞Expect to leave midday for a nap, pool time, or just break from heat and crowds
🌞Make table service dining reservations for the morning or evening - eating a heavy meal in the afternoon when you're hot can make you sick

🇺🇸Washington, DC Trip Recap: Day 7 & 8

I'm combining these two days, but they were packed with new adventures and some of our favorite things!

On day 7, we woke up early to get to the Bureau of Engraving & Printing by 8 for tickets. This is one place that you cannot get tickets early online and have to get them in person still. We got our tickets and got a tour for 9:15, so we walked across the street and enjoyed the Washington Monument for a few minutes before our tour started. You can't take pictures inside the factory but let me tell you It's AWESOME! So cool to see! There were some neat displays in the lobby too!

We walked to the Museum of Natural History next because the older kids and David had a ticket at the Holocaust museum at 12:30. The museum has some cool animals and exhibits but it was definitely a little overload and our kids mostly just walked through quickly. Once we split, my little boys went to the diamonds and minerals section and really liked that.

My older two really got a lot out of the Holocaust museum. Lots of questions and a very moving experience. Those things can be hard, but we should never forget those things just because they are ugly or painful. The people who suffered deserve to be remembered so it's never repeated.

On our final day, we cleaned out our Airbnb and walked to the Museum of the Bible. This is a paid museum and I don't know many people who have gone. After a week in museums packed with school groups and way too much to ever read, this museum was a breath of fresh air! It is beautifully designed and such a peaceful environment. There is plenty to read but not overload, and I love how they had live actors in some sections. The Old Testament 30 min walk through was phenomenal and blew me away!

🇺🇸Washington, DC Trip Recap: Day 6

Sunday was a lighter day for us since we had worship that morning. On our way back, we stopped at Arlington National Cemetery, which is something everyone should see once in their life. My children were amazed at the amount of graves on both sides of the walkway. During the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider, it was incredibly silent. Lots of questions were asked and there were many opportunities to share with our kids about the brave men and women who have fought for our freedoms!

Disney shared the first look at the new rooms coming to the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. This tower is scheduled to open December 17! 🎄

These brand new rooms look stunning! And of course you'll get all the amazing amenities of the Polynesian resort, like Ohana, Kona Cafe, views of the fireworks, and a monorail straight to Magic Kingdom! 🏰

🇺🇸Washington, DC Trip Recap: Day 5

Today was the day we had our White House tour! We arrived to the WH about 15 minutes before our time, and were met with a long line. It took probably 45 minutes to get through the line outside, go through the first security check point, and then wait a little longer to go through another. I mention this because it is in full sun. 🌞 We were ok in the 80 degree sun because we've been in the heat, but several people were struggling and someone actually passed out right beside us. Keep this in mind if you are wanting to go during a hotter month!

The White House was beautiful, but it's a short tour. A few rooms and amazing decor, and you're done! It is really cool to say you've been in the White House. Much to my children's disappointment, they did not see the President 😂

We chose a local place for lunch, Founding Farmers. It was excellent! They serve breakfast during the weekends so several of us had chicken and waffles or French toast, and the other had burgers.

Next we went to Ford's Theatre, which I had purchased tickets online for (these are very reasonable, around $3). The Theatre is self-guided but they had great displays and information. Across the street, the Petersen House is also included which is where Lincoln actually died. Much of this exhibit is also closed and being refurbished (I assume again in anticipation of 250th birthday of America), but we saw plenty, including the "room where it happened".

🇺🇸Washington, DC Trip Recap: Day 4

This has been my favorite day so far! We did a quick tour of the Supreme Court in the morning and, after lunch at the Airbnb, enjoyed a guided tour of the Capitol which was only about 2 blocks from our Airbnb. Our tour guide was wonderful, and they have opened so many great exhibits and interactive elements in the lobby that we were able to enjoy because we arrived early! If you go in the winter months, this tour is usually longer since crowds aren't as high.

We also did the Museum of American History
This Smithsonian was really great and had way too much to ever read, but our favorite section was upstairs with tons of pop-cultured artifacts. Kherington really loved the room with all the dresses and outfits from the First Ladies. One of the Smithsonian's most prized pieces is also in this museum... The top hat Abraham Lincoln wore when he was assassinated. 🎩
