Thank you so very much for your business and loyalty for so many years. I appreciate it very much.

Poinsettia Travel will close its doors as of August 15, 2021 so that I may take on a new responsibility elsewhere in the travel industry. I am excited for a different challenging job while also sad that I will not be working with my customers any longer.

It has been a blessing to use my industry knowledge and passion to do something I love to help others. But especially, Poinsettia Travel has given me the flexibility that working from home offers so that I could also more easily raise my little kids and work around family and school needs. But suddenly, the kids are all grown up and gone! And so I have chosen to try a brand new travel industry challenge with a different type of structure and benefit that more match what my adult family can use.

I will keep my business line and emails open for awhile in case you would like to chat or get a referral to a new travel agent. Many of my friends would love to do business with you and I am happy to match you to one of my friend agents. .

I hope you have many more great adventures!! Happy Travels!!

For those who are traveling this summer:

Some wise words from an AA flight attendant post…

“If you are flying anywhere this month, on any airline…
Pack snacks and PB&Js, bring a refillable water container, portable charger for your phone, a deck of cards or UNO, download extra movies on iPad, if you have wireless headsets also bring old school plug in type, bring a light blanket, go to the airport 1 extra hour earlier than you would have, bring your patience, and a mask. If you must travel with kids, go to Dollar Store and buy new toys they have never seen, give them these during delays. You can also buy the blow up arm floaties, to use as pillow or lumbar support for your back. Small portable fan or paper fan. A tennis ball to use to massage you aches.
Airlines don’t supply pillows or blankets anymore. There is no food onboard to buy or give, usually there is not enough beverages for 2nds.

Fill your water bottle in airport, or buy a bottle. There is not enough bottled water onboard to fill your container, nor are we allowed to fill it.

If you are booked on last flight of the day, be prepared that you might end up spending the night in airport.

Do not check your medicine or keys in your luggage.

Bring a Pen!! You may have to fill out forms, or need to write down info.

I have been in this business for 30 yrs and I have NEVER seen it this crazy! Every airline is short staffed, gate agents are working alone at gates for oversold flights, the wait times to get through to reservations are 3+ hours. Restaurants and stores can’t get people to work. Super long lines everywhere. LOTS of mechanical issues, weather, staffing issues none of which is due to frontline employees. They are as frustrated as you are. They are EXHAUSTED! This has been happening to them EVERYDAY for over a month, with no relief insight.

So I am asking you to BE VERY KIND TO EVERYONE. It’s always appreciated.

Don’t bring your pets if you don’t have to.”

While Big Island is not so busy, Oahu was bumper to bumper today and very crowded all around the island, especially Waikiki and all tourist traps. Not fun with crowds but I can't even imagine how bad it would be if all the car rental companies had their full precovid car allotments. They are low on cars because they sent cars away one year ago and have not replaced them with new cars, in wondering how the pandemic would affect them....

You all know what travel used to be like. It was pretty good, somewhat chill. But it never was 100% simple. There was always some minor irritating "stuff" to deal with. You were always out of your comfort zone just a little bit. Little things maybe went wrong.

Well now it is that much more complex with covid rules different in every single destination. More out of your comfort zone time. More irritations just to get where you want to go. More goes wrong.

This is the absolute BEST time to use a travel agent who has your back and is your eyes and ears. We have always dealt with your issues behind the scenes that you never heard about. This is nothing new to us. There are just more of those issues!! Many more.

Let us help and try to make your experience more like a precovid one. Back to somewhat chill. Call soon. Time to travel again!!!!

Hawaii is open my friends!
Nerve-wracking to wait until last minute on covid results, especially for 8.. Very strict and paperwork must be shown everywhere you go. I am seeing a not so busy Hawaii as the result. Awesome so far!

Majority of Americans Say They “Desperately” Need a Vacation
By Roger Dow

Jan 25, 2021

To mark National Plan for Vacation Day, Jan 26, give yourself permission to dream in 2021.

Let's make a plan.
Let’s plan to do things we didn’t all get to do last year. Let’s plan to travel, enjoy a change of pace and scenery, find new experiences around our great country, and reunite with family and friends.

National Plan for Vacation Day (NPVD) is January 26—the day set aside each year to encourage Americans to plan their hard-earned time off at the start of the year for the remainder of the year. It’s an intentional step to slow down, unplug from work for a bit, and carve out vacation time in your busy schedules. Studies show that planners have an advantage over nonplanners, using more days to travel on average per year—but 28 percent of American households still don’t take the time to plan their vacations.

NPVD has another meaning this year: It’s a day to give yourself permission to dream.

NPVD is joining forces with the Let’s Go There initiative—a broad movement to encourage Americans to plan, and even book, future vacations, or to simply keep their travel flame lit and think about where future getaways will take you.

I get it, some of you probably aren’t thinking about vacation right now. We are still very much in the middle of this very difficult pandemic and many are not yet ready or able to take a trip. But consider the challenges of the past year, and it won’t be too surprising that 63 percent of respondents to a recent survey said that they “desperately” need a vacation. So, the travel industry is encouraging Americans to do what is safe and productive: simply plan a vacation (or take things a step further and book one!).

See for yourself: Pick a destination, browse accommodations, bookmark an interesting restaurant and research the destination’s top sites. Then, pull out your calendar and block off some days. Come on—you can’t tell me that doesn’t bring a smile to your face.

No matter where you choose, you’re going to feel that spark of happiness start to burn.

Further, I cannot stress enough that a vacation doesn’t have to be a complicated or distant adventure. Plan an overnight trip to a nearby town you’ve always wanted to explore or a casual weekend getaway. No matter where you choose, you’re going to feel that spark of happiness start to burn. In fact, a staggering 97 percent of survey respondents said that simply having a trip planned—any kind of trip—makes them happier.

Survey data also shows that 84 percent of Americans are excited to plan a vacation in the next six months, indicating an impending surge in travel demand once conditions improve. Savvy vacation planners who are able to book trips now should seriously considering doing so. With many great travel offers to be had, and with many companies offering flexible booking policies, it would be wise to make some plans today—before demand picks up.

Of course, whether you’re planning a trip for the near future or sometime later in the year, continue to adhere to experts’ health and safety guidance: Wear a mask, wash hands frequently, practice physical distancing when possible and stay home if feeling sick, and get a COVID vaccine as soon as it’s available to you.

Times are tough right now, but that doesn’t mean we can’t look forward to better days. Give yourself permission to feel the joy and excitement of making some concrete plans to use your time off to travel this year—and tell us where you’re dreaming of with the hashtag .

Kenya at it's best.
Sorry to report that the world travelers around us can not believe that such a technologically advanced country is so deceitful, shameful, corrupt and chaotic this week. Everyone but Americans are in such disbelief.
