The travel side of Instagram can be a little bit deceptive.

Everyone’s always taking these fabulous trips, but how do you decide what will be a good trip for you with so much information out there on the ‘gram?

Take my client Jenny, for example. They were scrolling through their feed, stumbled on a hotel a friend had booked, that they was interested in booking for their Anniversary trip too.

I got on the case right away. 🔎

Almost immediately I realized this property wouldn’t be a good fit for my client who prioritizes a good beachfront above everything else.

I took this property as a starting point and ended up recommending two others that had some of the good elements of the property my client found, but also included a few more of the things I knew it was lacking (Because a rocky beach just won’t cut it for my clients!).

All this is to say, take what you see in your feeds as inspo, but always do the research to make sure the destinations and hotels you find will fit your unique travel needs.

The way we travel is changing.

I mean, we’ll always love the beaches and hot sun, but more and more, I’m seeing unique requests like:

Hey Foodies 👋 How can you make sure you don‘t miss out on the best food spots on your next big trip?

It will all come down to a few key factors:

➡️ What comes to mind when you think of a great food experience?

Is it indulging in gourmet meals? Exploring local cuisine? Or are you more of a hands-on person who would love to learn how to cook traditional dishes? Decide what you like so you can prioritize it in your itinerary.

➡️ How long is your trip?

Do you have lots of time to explore, or just a few days? Depending on how long you‘ll be at your destination, you‘ll want to make room for the best recommendations but leave space to stumble upon spots that may not be on Google.

➡️ Have you consulted anyone else?

Some of the best spots are found through word-of-mouth. I‘m a bit of a foodie myself, and I love researching and connecting with locals to find the best spots for my clients‘ adventures. I found my clients the perfect restaurant in [insert destination] to [celebrate their anniversary/birthday]. And they loved it.

And don‘t even get me started on the reviews — because what ‘wows‘ one person might totally disappoint another.

There’s truly nothing worse than having a trip de-railed by a bad hotel experience.

So how do I do my best to make sure clients are satisfied with the places they stay?

1️⃣ I get to know what your travel preferences are, what you like, what’s your top priority when you travel, etc.

2️⃣ I take notes of the resorts you’ve loved in the past and the resorts you haven’t loved so much — this gives me a great place to start.

3️⃣ I stay up-to-date on the new resort openings and any existing hotel refurbishment schedules. I’m constantly taking notes when properties open that are a great fit for specific clients. When they’re ready to travel, I already have a list started.
