Update for travels to the UK:

Starting January 8, 2025, the United Kingdom will require all non-European travelers to have an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) upon arrival into the country. All visitors, including children, who do not have a visa or other UK immigration status will need to present a completed ETA when entering the region, including airport connections at London Heathrow (LHR), London Gatwick (LGW), etc.. Once an ETA is approved, travelers are permitted to visit the UK for up to six months and take multiple trips through the country over the course of two years (or until the traveler's passport expires, whichever comes first).
WHAT DO TRAVELERS NEED TO APPLY FOR AN ETA?
Pay a fee of GBP10
Complete the online form through a downloadable phone app or web browser. Find 'UK ETA' through the app store on your phone/tablet, or visit their website. Here, you will be asked to 1. provide contact and passport details, 2. provide a valid photo that complies with the digital requirements, and 3. answer a set of questions.
Travelers can start applying in advance, starting on November 27, 2024. The application process is easy and takes about 3 business days for approval.
Make sure your clients are aware that this will be needed for any UK trips that occur January 8th or later!

We travelled to Slovenia over Mother’s Day Weekend and stayed Garden Village Bled - Slovenia -Glamping and I can’t recommend it enough! Especially to those of you who want a luxury camping feel. They have tree house options that overlook the river that runs through the property as well but they were all booked at the time. May is nearing off season so it’s not warm enough for swimming in Lake Bled and it rained the entire weekend we were there. We didn’t let that stop us 😉 Anyways, the Glamping tents are equipped with a freshwater hot tub barrel so this topped off the rainy days and the kids loved it. There is also a private sauna you can book alone or as a couple and a masseuse to provide a relaxing massage. The sauna and massage are an additional cost.
There is a natural pool onsite that the dining area overlooks as well as a playground for the little ones.
I really valued the attention to detail and the hospitality that was provided to guests. The hotel staff was very friendly, helpful with local recommendations and also walked with you (holding the umbrella ☔️) to show you to your lodging.
Breakfast was included in the price.
Our kids ages 7 & 11 loved it.

They have bikes available to borrow for free so you can bike around Lake Bled and it’s a few min walk down the road.

Slovenia is a beautiful country, we really enjoyed our visit!

Slovenia is one of the world’s most sustainable, and greenest countries with more than half of its territory covered in forests and woods.

We had the opportunity to spend a long weekend exploring this countries beautiful landscape.

This morning we made our 1.6km trek following the Radovna River through the massive stone walls and luscious greenery that surround Vintgar Gorge.

The end hike ends with the views of Šum waterfall at a height of 13 m (43 feet). It’s the largest river waterfall in Slovenia.

This country is an adventurous playground and not one to overlook.

I realize it has been quite some time since I have posted on here.

But it’s been on my heart to share a little glimpse of my personal life since moving here to Germany 🇩🇪:

As most of you know we moved overseas to nearly 8 months ago. The transition for our family was harder than we thought it would be and we just needed time. I stepped away from travel planning to focus on settling here and helping my kids adapt to the best we know how.

Over the last 8 months, we have made a new ‘home’, joined a homeschool community, my son joined a local soccer team, we have added new countries to our list of experiences, eat delicious foods, navigated city transportation 🚆, visited beautiful parks, castles, museums etc … and I’ve held the fort down since January since my husband has been gone 95 days of 2023. 😮‍💨
Needless to say, it’s been a lot. I wanted to briefly share a recap because many of you travel often and/or have been an Expat before and know that along with the good of experiencing a new country and culture, there’s an emotional shift- a darker side that can creep in that I was unaware of. “The Expat blues” It’s a thing, It exists. It’s hard.

Living abroad requires tremendous energy, optimism, self-confidence and independence.
And for each individual adapting, some do it really well and more quickly than others. Building a new community, making friends, learning a new language- it doesn’t happen overnight.

It’s a process. I’m so grateful for this opportunity even though it’s taking time.
And we’re still waiting for those special people to come into our lives to do life here with.

“What we are waiting for is not as important as what happens to us while we are waiting. Trust the process.”
