It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mocha Sochrin after a brief illness. Mocha was not quite 13 1/2 years old at the time of her passing. She was a purebred Golden Retriever born on June 12, 2010 in Simpson Bay, St. Maarten. Mocha, originally named Mohawk, was the canine daughter of Shadow and Goldie Angel Flatley, and she was one of 13 littermates. She remained with her first human, Mary Jane Flatley until she was adopted by John Gifford through the Team Goldendog organization. Several years ago, Mocha rejoined her late canine sister, A.M. at her ancestral home, and was adopted by Jeffrey Sochrin.
Mocha was a beautiful red Golden Retriever. She had a special bond with her human Grandfather, the late Sumner B. Sochrin of Milford and Seymour, Connecticut, USA and Simpson Bay St. Maarten. If her grandfather was on the island, Mocha was with him. She was predeceased by her Golden sister, A.M. and her first human, Mary Jane Flatley of Bristol, Rhode Island, USA. She is survived by her human Dad, Jeffrey Sochrin of Simpson Bay, St. Maarten and her human Uncle, Charles E. Southworth III of Simpson Bay, St. Maarten, her trusted caregiver, Andrea "Simone" Edwards, her canine brother, Shaggie Sochrin and feline brother, Super Kitty.
A special thank you goes out to Dr. Glen Romney of the St. Maarten Animal Hospital and his entire team for providing such excellent care to Mocha during her life and especially during her final days.
