Mooring Ball Installation at Cooper Island

Video of new mooring ball being installed at Cooper Island. There were 10 new sea floor anchors and moorings installed at Cooper Island by Moor Seacure in March. This brings the total count up to just over 40 maintained moorings at Cooper with 50% reservable and 50% first come first serve. Large sea floor anchors are drilled into the sand and then connected to a rope that is kept off of the sea grass by a submerged buoy. This rope is then connected to a chain that runs up through the mooring and connects to the pennant. It is recommended to always check the mooring. The pennant is what is most likely to get damaged and is the easiest to check. All connections should also be checked. All moorings in the BoatyBall application are in a full time maintenance program and are checked on a regular basis. However if you see any damage to a mooring please report to BoatyBall or the bay manager so we can take the mooring out of service until it can be fixed. We hope you enjoy the video!
