Alaska Alpine Club The Alaska Alpine Club was formed in 1952 to promote exploration and enjoyment of Alaska's mountains

The Alaska Alpine Club exists to expose those interested in the mountains to them. Current club activities include the Introduction to Ski Mountaineering Class, spring trips, an annual gear swap, publishing local climbing guidebooks, and putting on monthly slideshow. Past club activities include lobbying the state government to prevent industrial development in local climbing spots (the famous Ala

ska Pipeline was originally routed through the granite crags northeast of Fairbanks), maintaining a climbing wall at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Student Recreation Center, and maintaining local climbing crags.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Rock Climbing and Clean-up day (Emphasis on Clean-Up). As many of you know, the Grapefruit Complex Fire burned the Upper and Lower sections of Grapefruit. Which is a BUMMER! But an impressive 25 members showed some lovin’ to our rock climbing area, specifically between Sunnyside and Lost Cracks. This crew enhanced trail stability and regained the ease of access to Lower Grapefruit! Thank you, , for lending us some trail maintenance tools for this event! As well as those who chauffeured students to and from Grapefruit.
