I believe that birth is one of the most powerful transformative events that a person can experience. I have wanted to be a part of that journey for most of my life, inspired by my own mother's love of pregnancy, childbirth, and babies! Though I watched my mother journey through four pregnancies, I did not attend my first birth until many years later. I saw the way that her doula supported her and
how much her presence made a difference in her experience of her birth. Being witness to that beautiful event moved me deeply and confirmed my desire to be a birth worker. I began the doula training process in 2012, enrolling in a certification program with Birth Arts International. I have also been trained by Hypnobabies, a childbirth method that involves hypnosis techniques for an easier more comfortable childbirth experience. For more information on Hypnobabies, you can follow the link here. I am currently also in training to become a homebirth midwife! As a doula, my main priority is to support you in having a fully informed and empowering birth experience--however it may look for you. I believe that it is important to protect and hold the space of your birthing time. I encourage as much love and affection as possible and desired between you and your loved ones, and facilitate partner involvement to whatever extent you choose. I proudly support:
Families of all types, sexual orientations, gender identities, ethnicities, and cultural and religious backgrounds. Teen parents
First-time and experienced parents
Single parents
Unmedicated and medicated births
Deliveries at hospitals and home births
I serve Richmond, Virginia and surrounding areas.
