📍Garnet Ghost Town
150 years ago, Garnet was bustling with gold miners and their families, carving a living out of the Garnet Mountains that surrounded them.
Today, it claims the title of Montana’s best preserved ghost town, a stunning (and spooky) memory of what Montana used to be.

📍Bannack, Montana. Welcome to Bannack, Montana — a ghost town frozen in time. Once a bustling hub during the gold rush, Bannack was the site of Montana's first gold discovery and the state’s first territorial capital. Today, it's a remarkably preserved state park, offering a glimpse into the late 1800s when gold was king. At its peak, over 3,000 people called Bannack home. But Bannack isn't just a historical treasure — it's also rumored to be a hot spot for the paranormal. In August of 1916, tragedy struck when 16-year-old Dorothy Dunn, who never learned to swim, drowned in a dredge pond. Her best friend, Bertie Mathews, was deeply affected by the loss. Bertie’s family ran the Meade Hotel, a prominent building that still stands in Bannack today. In the years following Dorothy’s death, Bertie reported seeing a vision of her friend in a long blue dress — an eerie sight that continues to haunt the hotel. To this day, visitors have reported glimpsing the same ghostly figure, forever wandering in that haunting blue dress. #VisitMT #GhostTowns
