Our beaver clan is back from the flood, and is busy as ever rebuilding their lower dam. They are dropping some massive trees! The bridge survived the flood as well.

The Way Back Bridge is holding up in today’s flood water.

Our busy beaver clan rebuilt their dam this summer only to have another late season deluge breach it again… 2nd time this season. They are back at it, and have their pond filling up yet again. The water level is still a couple feet down from peak.

The Adirondack Park has some of the darkest skies in this part of the country. Much of the Adirondack Park is classified as a 2 on the Bortle Scale. The Bortle scale is a nine-level numeric scale that measures the night sky’s brightness. The scale ranges from Class 1, the darkest skies available on Earth, through Class 9, inner-city skies. The Milky Way becomes visible at 3 or 4 on the Bortle scale.

A beaver family has beautifully transformed a mountain stream at Owls Head Cabin. While the brook still babbles by the cabin, it has become an Adirondack pond full of life just downstream by the Way Back Bridge.
