I'm really excited--- I am finally achieving my dream of traveling to Bhutan. This is a beautiful country where they measure Gross National Happiness (instead of GDP) and it is the only carbon neutral country in the world. I will be there in August and because it is another long flight, I will spending time in Nepal and Malaysia on the same trip. It should be a beautiful journey 😊 More details to come....

Are you still thinking of traveling this summer...or in 2025 in general? If so, delaying may have helped you a bit if you are willing to be flexible. The areas where I see the most availability are in premium and luxury options, so while the prices aren't bargain prices, they do represent an excellent value for what you get. A week long stay in the Maldives is around $10k with flights, cruises that are typically over $20k for a couple are now closer to $12k, hurricane season rates at beautiful properties in the Caribbean are priced lower than the past couple of years. Some deals are for last minute travel and others apply throughout 2025. Please get in touch when you are ready to start planning.

Spending a few days of down time in the Maldives. This is a great place to relax and unwind while enjoying the beautiful scenery. I won't lie...I am here at the start of the rainy season, so the weather isn't perfect, but even during a heavy thunderstorm, it is still pretty...although all of the outdoor furniture is now soaked even what is under cover as it has been raining sideways ⛈️☔️

I am a little sad to be leaving Sri Lanka today...it has truly been one of my favorite destinations. The Sri Lankan people are very welcoming and kind, the views are gorgeous and the island has a lot to offer. (something for everyone). I am headed to the Maldives today--these 2 destinations are easy to combine (only a 1.5 hour flight) and each offers something very different.

I'm in the Galle area and one of the main reasons I chose this area was to visit and support the Dog Care Clinic. Street dogs are all over Sri Lanka and while some dogs look better than others, most people agree it is a problem. This non-profit does amazing work--they spay/neuter about 50 dogs per day (for free), provide vet care for injuries, feed dogs on set routes each day (the dogs are waiting for them at each stop) and try to help the community as well by giving people a monthly stipend to adopt and care for a dog that needs a home. This non-profit is run by German woman and I can't beleive the imapct they have had. I highly recommend giving back to cause you believe in while traveling. They are located near some of the most beautiful beaches, so it is easy to combine a visit with your vacation 😊https://www.dogcare-clinic.com/en/

While I wasn't able to see a leopard in Yala, I was able to see some other cool wildlife. Leopards can be elusive and they tend to hide until the dry season when they have to go out to search for water....and something to eat. I'm now in a beach area near Galle and will be exploring Galle Fort tomorrow.

As I continue my journey through Sri Lanka, one thing remains constant...the beautiful views. I've also had beautiful bathrooms the past 2 nights which is also important :)

I continue to enjoy all the beauty Sri Lanka has to offer. I went on a cycling tour of Anuradhapura, climbed up over 1200 steps to the Sigiriya Rock Fortess and enjoyed a night at a the relaxing Santani wellness retreat.

I traveled to Dambulla cave temples yesterday---some of the caves date to over 2,000 years ago. It is crazy to think of being the first person to find these caves in recent history---they are a long walk up. So glad they were discovered. I'm now a the beautiful Uga Ulagalla and there are lots of monkeys (and peacocks) to keep me entertained :) I'm headed out on a cycling trip this afternoon to Anuradhapura and then I'm having a Kamatha dinner (this is a special service of traditional royal recipes---I'm told there are as many as 25 dishes!).
