Memory Bears By Dede are hand-crafted stuffed animals
made from clothing that once belonged to someone special.
I personally create these treasures. Whether it is a family member, friend or neighbor, each piece of clothing is handled and treated with honor and respect ... rendering a cherished gift to enjoy and pass on to future generations.
Here are some FAQ's that may answer questions for you:
What kind of fabric can be used?
Almost any type of fabric and clothing can be used! Although, I do not currently work with heavy fabrics such as fur, leather and suede. If you have any questions or special requests, please let me know.
How big are the stuffed animals?
My Memory Bears are jointed so their arms and legs will move and can be posed. They measure about 10-12 inches long. (Please note that their eyes and noses are plastic and are not recommended for small children.)
How much do you charge and how long does it take?
The cost of my stuffed animals starts at $70* per animal, depending on the animal chosen and the amount of intricate work that is done. (Price only goes up if the fabric is especially heavy or if "accessories" are requested i.e. clothing.) I can also create a larger memory bear which is 50% larger and my charge is $100 (plus shipping if needed). Stuffed animals created from wedding gowns are $125. Memory Pillows (18x18") are $70. Quilted ornaments are $70. Angel wing ornaments are $15. All projects are plus s/h (unless you are local to me.)
Turn-around time is generally 1-2 weeks per animal, depending on my current workload.
