Allegheny Motorcycle Adventures One of the greatest playgrounds a kid with a bike ever dreamed of. But it can be a bit of a rarity depending on where they ride. Cheers!

It's hard to put into words, that feeling one gets when they find themselves on an empty road in wide open space and in the highway gear. The roads here are some of the greatest playgrounds a kid with a bike ever dreamed of. Not the crowded, well-known ones, but the mostly empty, hidden, and hard to find, velvet ribbons where that kid can once again ride to his or her heart's content. Like our pa

Rose and I sacrificed a little drizzle at the start for some milder December temps to spread some holiday cheer. We arrived at CycleLogikal just in time for Leonard to pick up his fully restored Yamaha RD 350. What a treat! I haven't heard or smelled a 2 stroke in ages.

Wildwood is one of the best as parks go in Bridgewater. Their ducks and squirrels can boast as the friendliest park critters anywhere, even if we didn't bring any food. It's a beautiful place to stop, even on a cloudy day.

We visited Bluestone Vineyards treating ourselves to some early gifts de vinos to go. I asked our host if she'd seen many other riders today buying wine. She chuckled, which was all I was after. Team Red may have to come back with the cage. There's a welcoming, warm and cozy vibe here. And the chill factor is set on professional.

Windy, as always, managed the wet roads with ease while keeping Rose and I warm and dry. I call this Ju**ie Season, where only the truly hard core are still using while everyone else is in some sort of reluctant seasonal rehab. If it's wrong, I don't wanna be right. Because there's no where else I'd rather be, than spending the day with Rose, in the wind and fresh air, on a bike built for two, abundantly capable and fun, even on cloudy days. Cheers everyone!πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘πŸβ˜οΈπŸ·

We rode to Buckhannon, WV to deliver some of Rose's soon to be world famous Kimchi to her brother and sister-in-law's place. The day started out with a little drama as I thought I could out run a pickup truck to the hole shot on Bullpasture Mountain, that turned out to be law enforcement. I kindly waved and surrendered the spot. Man, he was slow.

The day was forecast to be high in the 50s: you know, Sinatra weather, which only finally arrived near our destination. What started out mostly sunny, turned into more of an Andrew Wyeth affair once we crossed over the WV line. The section along Shaver's Fork, that received a bunch of snow, was like riding through an icebox.

Mostly chunky, but dry roads, tested Windy's sealegs, which she easily passed. The lack of traffic was soon replaced with holiday travelers in Elkins that tested another type of sealegs: patience, but only a C- this time. When all was said and done, we only waved once, to a duo on a crotch rocket. After 225 miles, we finally arrived home, just as the lights could be seen on the road, and the deer couldn't. Kimchi was never this much fun! Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!πŸ˜ƒπŸπŸžπŸŒΆ

Perhaps one of the warmest days for the rest of the year made it to 68F. It's a very welcome trade-off for bare trees. The empty roads, as usual, are the icing on the cake. So are the leg squeezes. Cheers everyone!πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘πŸπŸžπŸ’•

Couldn't pass up another November day riding. Rose and I reluctantly had to go to Staunton for business, which provided a unique route back to Franklin: opting for the Schnob of all Reddishness pass, over waiting in a work zone on 33.

Severe clear skies with unlimited visibility fully illuminated our approaching, formidible mountainous barrier while still in Augusta County. And the bright sunshine, now low in the sky, made a mostly fully loaded Windy, even more of a challenge on the narrow twists heading into the sun. Still beats driving. And we wouldn't have it any other way. Cheers!πŸ˜ƒπŸπŸž

I used to say September and October were my favorite months to ride. Although the colors are mostly gone, blustery Novembers in the 60s after a brief rain and the smell of wet leaves in the air, may have a spot in my riding heirarchy of best months.

High pressure cumulous clouds were the perfect backdrop much of the day for pics, which tested two batteries of Rose's camera. Spruce K**b was clearly conspicuous. And so was the antennae by the weather station for those with sharp eyes all the way from Snowy Mountain. Some ambitious cows, enjoying the same altitude in their mountain meadows, seemed rather perturbed we were in their airpace.

Capping off the ride was a spirited run back into Virginia on 250 where Windy, once again, demonstrated her exceeding capabilities, even for a 17 year old touring bike, two up in the hills. Gotta love fresh tires and brakes. Cheers and thanks for viewing everyone!!πŸ˜ƒπŸπŸžπŸŒ€

Is everyone else as tired as I am of the endless Join-Follow-Sponsored ads consecutively appearing on their feeds? I don't think this is the experience we hoped for. So, please forgive me if I miss your post. And thanks to all that wade through the weeds and like mine. Until it can be fixed, I will be spending less time here and more on the bike. Cheers!

All the leaves are brown. And the sky is gray. But we're on a bike. Enjoying the day.

Cruizin' though Highland, Bath and Pendleton Counties on election day, Rose and I were going to forage for mushrooms at a strategic spot, but the walk bridge was closed. We could have crawled under the boarding, and probably would have in our younger days, but there was a perfectly functioning motorcycle in the parking lot waiting to take us to empty roads and wind in the highway gear. And we already voted. 😁Cheers everyone!!🍻

Another gorgeous fall day for a grocery run. I think Rose and I took the longest way yet to Franklin. And we didn't exactly head straight home either. We almost had to make two trips this time.

Definitely past peak, but still beautiful. And the best thing about it: no crowds. At the risk of creating one, T&K had beautiful, thick NY strips for $7.98/lb. Bear in mind, this was on a Monday. Phenomenal meat dept.!! It's gonna be a happy grill.πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜²πŸπŸžπŸ₯©
