When I was little, there was a little blueberry patch on a wooded lot next to my grandparents house in Bamber Lake and my grandmother and I would always pick from those wild bushes in there. It always felt like those bushes were planted there intentionally, there was a little pathway cleared and she would tell me about how once she had made a blueberry pie for the neighbor with berries from that patch and sent my uncle to deliver it-
and he dropped it. 😖
That patch is long gone, it started to get overgrown with other plants and eventually someone cleared the lot and put up a garage :( but I still remember those days when we head out to Emery’s and I’m grateful they’re following #betterthanorganic farming practices, a little like that old patch.
🫐 We always try to pick enough blueberries to last a year, but if we make it to Christmas, we’ll be lucky! Before these babes, I could spend much more time picking and I’d usually make it to March, but the littles don’t last as long in the field and two more mouths hungry for Boo- berries 😆 so we’ll take what we can get! Picking was so easy this year, the bushes were full with the biggest, sweetest blueberries I’ve seen in a long time! 🐐 We always make time to visit with the goats and the donkey too!
📆 This is their last week for picking and it’s going to be perfect weather to be out there! We’re going to hit them up one last time!
