Have you heard of Sniffspot?! It’s the only place where anyone can rent land by the hour as a safe and private dog park. Basically is the Air B&B of dog parks!
This is how it works:
* Private rentals by the hour. Our hosts are locals that are renting their yards and private land to dog owners
* No other dogs during your visits. Only you and your dogs are allowed to enter a spot during the time you've booked it
* Trust and safety first. Spots are designed to be safe and both hosts and guests are reviewed after each visit
* Reactive dogs welcome. Many of the spots we list are designed with sensitive dogs in mind
* OR maybe your and/or your dogs are anti-social and don’t want to meet or talk to people!
@Sniffspot is also great for older folks or those with injuries who can’t walk far but need to get the dogs out. I wish I had known about then when I had my foot surgery, I would have gone a few times a week.
SniffSpots are worldwide and range in sizes from small yards to large acreage. I found this 3-acre farm so the dogs had plenty of space to chase balls and do their zoomies. It really just depends on what you are looking for!

You can see the bridge washed out and its hard to tell where the trail goes
First day on the trail and this is what he was most interested to dol
I just bought my Tacoma, and the most annoying part about the truck for me was the wavy, uncomfortable tailgate. The ridges hurt your butt to sit on, you have to try and balance camp stoves, there's nowhere to easily set drinks down without them spilling, and they are hard to clean.
The tailgate is one of the most utilized pieces of the truck, but the standard panel is flawed and out of date.
SNAILARMOR fixes that by offering a totally flat panel - check out the full review on my blog: https://girlonahike.com/snailarmor-flat-tailgate-panel.html
A new era has begun. Meet Sage, a ’22 Tacoma Off Road! She’s ready to get dirrrrty! 🛻
I have worked long and hard for this! The last year and a half I really hit my finances hard - paid off 90% of my debt, then saved up a good chunk for a down payment. I *mostly* followed Dave Ramsey’s plan to get things in order and it worked!
I’m so freaking excited for this truck because I have ALWAYS owned old, crappy cars that have needed constant maintenance. I needed more clearance for all the outdoor things I do, and this will handle the Utah snow much better as well. All the dogs can pile in the back too!
I will be building out the back once I get the cap installed for sleeping and will do some mods to it, but it won’t be anything crazy. Soooo excited!
I finished! More coming, but it was a good day!
Can’t wait to bring you several new trail guides in the St. George area!

I’m finally all caught up on my blog with my adventures from the last two weeks!
At the end of July some friends and I visited the Spirit Lake area in the Uintas! We stayed at the Spirit Lake Lodge and did some exploring around the area.
Check out all the details on my new post here: https://www.girlonahike.com/a-weekend-at-spirit-lake-uintas.html
OMG my hiking shoes mostly fit! Just waiting on a tad more swelling to decrease. 11 more days until I find out if I can start hiking. Sooo excited!
Tubing the Provo River
It’s RIVER and tubing season with High Country Adventure 🏖
I may not be able to hike yet, but I sure can float! 😎
In fact it was the perfect, chill activity for me to get outside without worry about walking too much. There were a few rocks and branches to look out for but I just made sure to keep my left foot in and push with my right. It was SO cold but fun!
Weekends fill up fast so make sure you make a reservation now for a few weeks out! Included in each ticket is the ride up, the tube, & a life jacket. This is a perfect adventure for all ages!

Moon Lake June 2021
Finally checked out Moon Lake in the Uintas!
While there is a campground, lodge, and cabins available we went up for just the day. The best parts about Moon Lake are:
- Dogs off leash
- You can drive literally right up to the lake (truck or jeep recommended due to some deep sand)
- No fees to access the lake/area (lodging has fees, of course)
- Tons of nearby trails
- The lake sits at 8,000 ft to temps are much cooler
The biggest downside to this area is Moon Lake is surrounded by an old fire burn from October 2020 (the East Fork Fire).
We had a great time!
Week 6.5 - Time to Start Walking!
Here we go!!!! My surgeon gave me approval to start walking at week 6.5!
For this first week I will still be in my special shoe and using one crutch. After that I will try to ween off both.
My next appointment is in 6 weeks and the goal in between now and then is to 1) be able to fit back into my normal hiking shoes 2) walk without a limp and 3) be able to do very short walks (i'm thinking Memory Grove or just around a park).
The only shoes he said I could wear are Chacos, Crocs, or Birkenstocks - I'm down for that haha! They have a stiff sole so the foot can't roll as much, and with the Chacos I can adjust the straps for my still swollen foot.
Let's get this party started! I'm SO happy right now!
First heel walk – 4 weeks post op. The goal is to only put 10% of weight on my heel for the first week. I was concentrating so hard and was super nervous!
