Did you know that spaghetti, or the consumption of boiled dough can be dated back to AD 3 and 4 but it wasn't until the 19th century that the popularity of pasta really grew in Italy.
Spaghetti fun facts:
There is 600 pasta shapes available globally!
Meatballs were 1st served with Spaghetti only around WW II
Italians only eat Spaghetti by twirling with a fork, using a spoon and fork is an American concept

My Spaghetti picture is actually ice cream from an amazing Cafe in Ruedesheim Germany on Drosselgasse Street, one of many stops during my river cruise with Avalon Waterways in 2018.

I'm behind a day! Day 3 found the boys crossing the and heading west into Chicago. Kevin and Chris ubered 7 blocks to Portillo's and got some Italian Beef! The Amtrak lounge here was huge and empty... great place to relax in-between trains! Their room on the California Zephyr is a roomette, little smaller than their last room and it has a shared bath within their sleeper car. Still comfortable though and still with a private car attendant.
Chris had shrimp and lobster for dinner while Kevin settled for spaghetti with meatballs again.. the food is good so far! They haven't shared breakfast or lunch pictures but you definitely get 3 meals a day with your room package.
Pictures leaving IL were boring so I didn't get many!
Day 4 has been an for sure! The train arrived in Denver and they were stopped long enough to get out and get some pictures of the snow! Unfortunately leaving the city and heading towards the mountains they lost service and about 5 hours later I got a message they were slowly reversing back towards Denver. Apparently the snow drifts are too much for the few engines so they are grabbing a few more and trying again! They even stopped to pick up a stranded BNSF crew that was stuck. Kevin said the crew has done an amazing job, I'm anxious for pictures... hopefully tomorrow!

Day 2 adventures started after a restful night at the Times Square and a hot breakfast... all of which was included in this . Also included when you add on a sleeper car is hot meals and access to the Amtrak lounge at each station!
The guys stored their luggage and played in Times Square until it was time to catch their train at Penn Station. Chris enjoyed the as well as the millions of souvenir shops!
This segment of the train is short and mostly dark so hoping for some great scenery pictures tomorrow. Dinner was chicken marsala and spaghetti with meatballs... you can request turn down service whenever you want from your personal car attendant!
And I promise I packed lots of clothes for Chris 🤣

Kevin and Chris arrived safely in New York City this morning after their overnight travels from Jacksonville! Lots of legroom and the food from the train Cafe was good! Today they checked into their hotel and played in the city with stops in and American Museum of Natural History
Chris even got to experience his first ride and is enjoying NY
Tomorrow they board for Chicago!
