Happy New Year’s Day! I’m so excited to kick off 2024!This year on NYE we traded a wedding for a relaxing spa vacation in Leavenworth, WA to celebrate 1 year of marriage and reset for the New Year! I can’t wait to share more about the hotel we splurged on
—The Post Hotel — and what we did in town! It was a busy weekend in Leavenworth over NYE so we were glad to have this hotel as a relaxing respite from all of the crowds. One of our bartenders told us they haven’t seen crowds like this over NYE before! 😳 More to come soon about our trip and what we loved in Leavenworth, but until then I hope you had a wonderful NYE! 🥂 Cheers to the first day of 2024!

Las VEGAS snaps! I had the best weekend in Vegas this weekend with my friend and her parents. We went to a game, gambled, walked thru the amazing Christmas floral display AND ran into the most cowboys and girls I’ve ever seen in my life there for the NFR. 😂 lol oh and not to forget a never-forget stop at Cowboy Christmas where we ran into Miss Rodeo Idaho🎄🐴 🤠 Oh what fun! I hadn’t been back to Vegas since 2021 so it was great to see the changes. Hot tip: if you decide to go to a Raiders game in Vegas, try to stay close to the stadium! was perfect for us cause you can walk right there before and after the game!

November was a powerful month for me, and I had a perspective shift after spending 5 weeks in New York City. I came home feeling, very tired, but also more alive, more confident, more creative and excited about my life and where my career is headed. ✨

This month has been full of fun and what’s even better is that it’s been MY kind of fun. I’ve really been working on (for years now) saying “no” to what drains me and doesn’t fill my cup and this month I really got to experience things that sounded fun, to me!

I’ve also really been working on honoring the fact that I am a manifesting-generator (human design speak) and my mind is going to change about things, and that’s okay. I love the quote, “I reserve to right to change my mind about anything at any point.” That makes me feel free.

Anyway, this November I’ve been out and about, spending quality time in Charleston and City with fam, meeting new people, spending much needed time at home, eating well, working on a scrapbook of our NY trip, lining up some fun campaigns, winning an award, and so much more.

Thanks for being here, and thanks for 30k!! 😘

Happy Halloween weekend! 👻 🎃 🔮 This is officially our last weekend in NYC which is just so wild but we have done so much and are tired now so will be ready to get back to our regular routine! That is, after I go to Charleston!! 😅

We have had so much fun this fall in NYC though—even tho it was 80 degrees yesterday 😂. Here are some of the best NYC fall stoops I’ve seen while we’ve been here! I want to re-create them next fall season. Which is your fave? 🍁

My girls trip to Jackson, WY, a few weeks ago was truly a vibe! I want to re-create the trip over and over again—it was so much fun.

Here are just a few things we did that I highly recommend doing on your next trip:
- Stay at the by
- Go cowboy hat shopping in downtown Jackson
- Grab drinks and watch live music at
- Head to Taggart Lake Trail in the
- Grab a photo at the antlers in Jackson's main square
- Eat breakfast at

Chicago Architecture Tour with ! 🏙️

One of my top recommendations for anyone visiting Chicago for the first time is to go on a river architecture tour! It's an incredible opportunity to delve into the city's history while enjoying a scenic cruise along the river and admiring the beautiful buildings.

This last time, I used to book our architecture tour! They are my go-to for booking tours in different cities, because the experiences are always vetted and provided by knowledgeable, local experts, and 5-star guides.
We had a foggy day this time, but it was still fun to see the city scape like this!

Did you know that Puerto Rico is comprised of 5 islands and hundreds of cays and islets? I didn’t! So I was pleasantly surprised after starting to research that we could leave the main island for a truly tropical beach vacay!! We decided on the island of Vieques! Here were some of the highlights and my fave things to do if you go:

I’m currently [at this exact moment] in Chicago but I felt sad that I hadn’t shared a single photo of my trip to NYC for my brothers graduation on the feed. This app was photo sharing only for so long and now I realize I haven’t shared any photos from my recent trips!

I can’t remember if I told you all, but Jack and I are staying in NYC this fall for a month! We both have always wanted to live in NYC and never have so we are giving ourselves a little taste of what it could be life to live and work there.

Heyyooo! There are quite a bit of new faces around here so I wanted to reintroduce myself for those of you not as familiar! 🥰
- My name is Katie and my blog is The Traveling Spud because I like to travel and I'm from Idaho. Many people have started calling me "the spud" 🤣

- I am 33 turning 34 in May! I feel much younger than that tbh.
- You'll hear me talk about Jack (my new husband) occasionally!
-I own my own company KW Marketing where I freelance and consult for tech companies. I also own Traveling Spud and am ALMOST doing it full time! It’s been a long time coming, but I’m STOKED! Thanks for supporting me :)
-We got married on NYE this last year up at in McCall and had the best day! I’m so glad the wedding planning is over though . We honeymooned in Kauai and it was epic.
- I grew up in a small town in Idaho (Twin Falls) and then went to University of Idaho in Moscow Idaho where I majored in Marketing.
- Right after college I lived in San Francisco for 6 years and it was life changing in the best way! I miss those times a lot.
- I traveled the world solo for 14 months when I was 26 & 27 and it was the best decision I've ever made in my life. If you want to know more about this hit me up!
- My pet peeve is milk mustaches. I hate milk and hate watching people drink it. 😬
- I've eaten a bunch of weird stuff including a scorpion, snake, guinea pig, rat, camel and I've taken a shot of snake blood. 🤢
- I truly don't feel sane unless I have a trip planned in my future.
-My next trip is to New York City for my brothers graduation and then Puerto Rico for a travel conference called Women in Travel Summit!
-When I’m home, I love a good DIY project. Jack is really good at home improvement stuff!
-I’m currently planning a group trip and can’t wait to share more details!

and I had such a great time touring around Asheville! I couldn’t help but compare it to the vibes I get when I’m in Oregon, which surprised me!! With all of the breweries, hippies, and mountains it just felt like I wasn’t in North Carolina anymore! 😂

5 Breweries to Visit in Astoria and Warrenton, Oregon. 📌 Save this for later if you love breweries like me! 🙋🏼‍♀️

Okay so if you love beer like Jack and I, Astoria is for you. Well, Oregon in general is for you 😂 but Jack and I had so much fun in and we thoroughly enjoyed checking out the beer scene here! Our favorite breweries are listed below but we still need to come back to try more.

🍺 I loved tasting their different award winning beers. Definitely sit upstairs in this 1920’s building for great views of the Columbia River.
🍻 is Astoria’s oldest micro-brewery with multiple locations in town. We came on game night and had fun in their taproom looking over the brewery below!
🍻 - this is the newest brewery in Astoria. I loved the design of the brewery and the beer was great too!
🍺 - this brewery is now located inside the so you can grab their beer along with lunch or dinner. Def try their cheese curds and chowder!
🍺 - this is a great spot with indoor and outdoor seating! They also have food trucks parked outside so you can have a meal while trying new beers.

I haven’t posted an actual photo on here in a long time so it feels right to come on and recap my trip to the Oregon Coast in images!

Did you know that the Oregon Coast is only a 1 hour 15 min drive from Eugene, Oregon? A quick and easy day trip or a starting point to the Oregon Coast! and I went to the cute town of Florence, Oregon, the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area , the Heceta Head Lighthouse and America’s largest sea cave to see 🦭sea lions! We had a beautiful sunny day and it made me realize how much I miss the coast. I’m heading back this Spring to explore a few different areas and cannot wait.
