In Lake Placid. Not much on atmosphere but what it lacks in atmosphere it more than makes up in gourmet food. They have a HUGE selection of gourmet sandwiches, salads and pastries. A great place for lunch or to pack for the trail.

Over the past six weeks, our education team has assisted with a family science series organized by The Wild Center. Beginning in early May, a group of six families committed to a six-week educational program aimed at enhancing STEM education, fostering regional connections, and learning more about the Adirondack Park. Participants visited various locations in the Tri-Lakes region, including Bloomingdale Bog, Whiteface Mountain, Paul Smith’s College Visitors Interpretive Center, and Heart Lake Program Center. During these visits, they explored topics such as water quality, wildlife, watersheds, and other Adirondack science subjects. We extend our thanks to The Wild Center, Adirondack Mountain Club, Paul Smith's College VIC, High Desert Museum, and the National Science Foundation (NSF) for making this program possible.

We got our first rescue call for a grounded loon in distress on Bradley Pond Road in Clinton County, NY, on Tuesday, June 11. Loons need about a quarter-mile of open water to land and take off, so a land-stranded loon is a loon in need. Read all about it on our blog -> https://www.adkloon.org/adkloonblog-1/2024/6/18/grounded-loon-rescue-on-bradley-pond-road

Thank you to those who called in the distressed loon and who stood by to make sure the loon stayed safe until ACLC staff could arrive on scene! We appreciate you! If you see a loon in distress, call the ACLC office at 518-354-8636.
