Besides being located in the last existing colonial Scottish Factor Store (circa 1766), Urbanna’s museum houses an item many people would travel half-way around the world just to stand in front of. The Town of Urbanna, VA is the proud owner of a First Edition, Third Impression John Mitchell Map, published in 1755. Folks, John Mitchell's Map was used to define the borders of our newly formed country, following the Revolutionary War. That's right! AND, the map's creator, John Mitchell, lived right here in Urbanna, Virginia!
The museum has limited its winter hours to Fridays -Sundays, through March 2020. The building has been undergoing repairs, especially to the porch, in recent months.
