I have also rejected an idea from a local women who came to me with an antique wash basin in a wood cabinet and she wanted me to put a faucet on it and hook it up as a modern sink. I told her it was not a good idea but she persisted,finally her husband and myself relented and did what she wanted but not without saying to each other "this will never work" then her idea all suddenly was going to work and it sits in her bathroom and I had to eat crow. I was so sure I was right. When Visit she marches me into that bathroom and makes me wash up. she will never that one go.Since then I don't poo poo an idea so confidently. But there are things you just have to do to code for safety reasons that aren't so flexible. That's when you need to have a good relationship with the local inspectors, engineers and county planning staff. And lastly sub contractors. One should never be afraid to reach out when challenged.
