Big Thanks to the Mokelumne Hatchery !

More egg transfers! Yesterday we transferred 1.1 million eggs from Mokelumne River Hatchery to Coleman NFH.

Due to the low return of fall Chinook salmon to Battle Creek we have requested 8-10 million eggs from hatcheries, in the Central Valley, operated by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. This is the fourth of multiple transfers, and the total number transferred will be based on adult returns to the hatcheries.

Big thanks to Mokelumne River Hatchery and their funding agency, East Bay Municipal Utility District, for their partnership this season.

November 15, 2024, proved to be an outstanding day for sturgeon fishing. After initially targeting an unresponsive school of fish, we strategically relocated. Jerry, Alex, Brian, and Brandon then demonstrated exceptional prowess, swiftly optimizing their techniques. This yielded an impressive 8 fish from 10 hook-ups. Today’s trip was action packed for what our tides were! We went 7 fish for 9 Hook ups and had many opportunities for others . The action is Live ladies and Gentlemen! Today we stayed in the Bay to catch a nice mixed bag of fish which consisted of 7 limits of Striped Bass up to 8 lbs , 3 Halibut and 3 leapord sharks . definitely was a fun action packed day ! Today some friends and I went out scouting today and I must say we definitely had a banner day out sturgeon fishing landing 11 of our 17 hookups ! All of our fish for the most part were all Big Boys along with a couple of shorts ! Over all Sturgeon fishing is on and popping ! We will be running trips in the delta on the Top Gun $225 per person, and running crab combo trips aboard the Malia Kai . Today’s group were hit with a blast catching Limits of Striped Bass and 1 Halibut for the day . I must give it to Kimberly, Crump and the Mike Crump family from Florida, Washington, and Indiana for coming out and doing their thing.. and I can’t go without mentioning MICHAEL Walmsley and his kid for putting their hammer down on the stripers this morning. I must say it was a good trip, and we are always up for the challenge.
