So excited!!!! Ismael returns this summer to teach at our Summer Dance Camp and then returns for weekly classes in the fall. Yassss!! Text African Dance to 516-295-1867 for info. I took Ismael's very first class that he taught in America and he never disappoints. He comes from one of the most prestigious griot/historian/musician families in West Africa and is a fountain of knowledge. We are blessed to have him with us again. Ismael's credits include: Dancer in Fela on Broadway, Vocalist on @beyonce's grown woman-- hired by @timbaland . International dance teaching artist and direct descendant of the legendary griot Balla Fasseke-- the griot to Sundiata Keita-- founder of the Mali Empire. Ismael's famous family also served as griots to Mansa Musa-- the richest man ever to have lived on earth-- an African emperor from West Africa. 🙌🏽. The griots are the reason why we can still perform these ancient dances and songs centuries later.

Now that the holiday is done…let the learning truly begin. Please learn about the Dr King that they omit from our history books and lesson plans. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. Please consider studying African American history in college and absolutely teach your students and children and don’t rely on the schools in America to teach true history.
