Next week...get ready for lots of small planes cris crossing our airspace...If you are near LaPorte, IN, Monee, IL or Cadillac, MI in our area...its worth driving out to the airport to root the teams on. There's a tracking map on their website to watch the planes move across the midwest. They're probably still looking for volunteers to hand out water, time flights, etc. so if you are available, call the airport at the location and volunteer!

INTERNSHIP SPOTLIGHT

Aubrey has been working on her Private Pilot's License in her internship with Eagle Aircraft at the Porter County Regional Airport. Due to the early darkness in Northwest Indiana, Aubrey would not have been able to meet the requirements for her license without this internship opportunity. During her time with Eagle Aircraft, Aubrey has studied groundwork and daily lessons before getting in the plane to perform the lessons learned. She has done stalls, maneuvers (flying around silos at a specific distance), and has performed almost 300 landings. She routinely flies to the Gary Airport to talk to and learn from Air Traffic Control. At Phase 5 out of 10, Aubrey became experienced enough to start flying solo, and it is now something that she routinely does. As a result of her academic hard work and flying experience, Aubrey was one of only 80 students out of 2,000 applicants accepted into Purdue's Professional Flight School! Her internship earned her six credit hours, and combined with her additional dual credits, she could graduate an entire year early from Purdue!
