We will be collecting gift cards and gift certificates from local businesses which will be distributed to Carter Countians that were directly effected by the recent storms. We are incredibly honored and grateful to Senator Burger for recognizing Missouri Highlands Health Care’s 50 years of dedication to providing quality care in our rural communities!

Some of you may remember us as Big Springs Medical Association, founded in 1975 with our first clinics in Van Buren, Ellington, and Eminence. Over the years, we have expanded to serve even more of our neighbors, family, and friends—because YOU are the heart of what we do.

River Conditions Update: 3/18/2025
Updated 3/19/2025: Pin Oak is also blocked.

While both the Current and Jacks Fork Rivers are open at this time, new hazards have appeared after last weekend’s severe storms.

Starting with the lower Current district, Waymeyer and Pin Oak have been blocked by a large number of fallen trees. These river access points will be temporarily unavailable while crews clear the roads. We will post updates as they become available.

Further upriver, reports have come in about downed trees across the water. As of now, we are aware of two hazard trees in the river: one just above Pulltite Spring, and another above Current River State Park. Wherever you are floating, stay alert – it may be necessary to pull off the river and carry vessels around downed trees.
