One of the perfect drives out of Portland is driving the Gorge loop - take SR14 east out of Vancouver to Hood River, cross the bridge there ($3.50 toll bridge) and return on I84 west. There is currently a road closure just west of Multnomah Falls on the old scenic highway, so you can’t drive the full length of that road. We stopped at Horsetail Falls just east of Multnomah Falls as it is just off the road and requires no hiking. Stop at Women’s Forum outlook to capture a shot of Vista House from afar. Fall colors are just starting with golden undergrowth shining under the wildfire burn scars, but in a week it should be nearing peak color. The day drive will only be about 3-4 hours depending on how many stops you make! These photos taken Oct 23, 2024

Let's celebrate the 175th birthday of the first home built on Officers Row with an afternoon open house and outdoor bash! Built in 1849, the house is named in honor of President Ulysses S. Grant, and careful restoration and preservation by The Historic Trust has been important to its reaching this exciting milestone.

Learn more about the home and its place in Vancouver history by browsing interpretive exhibits, and attend a history talk in the East Parlor at 1:30 pm or 2:45 pm. Free family activities are happening all afternoon, including lawn games, arts & crafts, and a performance by Ants Ants Ants at 3pm. Enjoy a free birthday cupcake and refreshments. Plus, Willful Wine at the Grant House will be open for business during the event, with seating and a full menu available for all ages.

Many thanks to our sponsor, Columbia Credit Union, for their support!

Even though we have a new name, and a new team, there are many aspects of CrabFest that remain the same - FREE ENTRY being one of them! That's right, there is no ticket required to attend The Dungeness Crab Festival.

Join us October 11-13 in Port Angeles, Washington as we spend three days celebrating the Dungeness crab! Tons of food, live music, kids activities, craft vendors, and so much more.

Another aspect of CrabFest that remains the same is our recommendation to preorder a Dungeness crab dinner. This helps us have a more accurate count come Festival weekend. New this year is we ask that you select a day and time frame for when you'd like to pick up your crab dinner. We are hoping this will help eliminate the long lines.
