Yesterday, we cut the ribbon for Classic Hits 106.3 FM KVHT's new McVicker Plaza studio!! We are so excited to promote the Vermillion area with the crew from KVHT—you're going to be hearing from us a lot going forward!

Join the South Dakota Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics and Special Olympics South Dakota for the 2025 Vermillion Polar Plunge on Saturday, February 15th at Old Lumber Company Grill & Bar. This year's theme is Hawaiian!

Registration is a $100 donation, with swag and scholarship drawing entries available to teams that raise more. Students (K-College) can Plunge for $50. Plus, for every 25 students that register, SOSD will do a random drawing for a $500 scholarship.

SOSD is also excited to announce that there's a new way to Plunge this year! Vermillion will be Plunging with a custom-built mobile Plunge unit—nicknamed the "Plungester"—from Special Olympics Iowa!

The Vermillion Area Chamber & Development Company is hosting a Legislative Cracker Barrel on February 15th and March 1st 2025 from 9:00AM - 11:00AM at City Hall.

Cracker Barrels are held during the South Dakota State Legislative session. This event is an opportunity to ask questions and join in discussion. Meet with the local District 17 Representatives Chris Kassin, Bill Shorma, and Senator Sydney Davis

Randy Rasmussen of Vermilion worked in the family business for many years and has had the pleasure of interacting with employees, students, and family members of the University of South Dakota community. Rasmussen graduated from the University of South Dakota with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and from Grand Canyon University with a master’s degree in business administration. He is currently the payroll supervisor for HoChunk, Inc. Appointed by Governor Noem in 2023, his term will expire in 2028.

We have some exciting news... the VCDC is getting a radio station!

Yep, you read that right. We teamed up with Classic Hits 106.3 FM KVHT to put a radio booth on the first floor of our building! Stop in next Monday for the grand opening of the brand-new McVicker Plaza Studio. Watch the inaugural broadcast live, network with local radio personnel, and stick around for lunch after the ribbon cutting!
