Dear Friends
So many areas in our town was destroyed by tornadoes. We were very lucky here at the lake with no damage.
My friend Wes Garcia owns a food truck “Off the Hook”. Wes and his wife Michele are out delivering free meals for many people that are in need. You can help contribute below by Zelle or Venmo. Together we can help rebuild this community. Thanks

Don and I are fine after the hurricanes. We had 2 tornadoes pass over our area. I spent alot of time in the closet. We did not have any damage at our home nor at our beautiful lake. Our little town suffered alot of damage. We consider ourselves to be very lucky. Thank you Lord for our many blessings.

Praying for everyone in the path of this hurricane. Don and I are staying home here at the lake. We expect to lose power but we are prepared.

Don and I have returned from our summer vacation. The area we stayed at, in Maggie Valley. NC had alot of damage from Hurricane Helene. If you would like to help out these devastated areas in the mountains check out Haywood Christian Ministry in Waynesville, NC . You can place orders on Amazon to help them with their food distribution program. Western North Carolina desperately needs help. If you need more information, please let us know.

On a positive note, Don and I are already booking reservations. We have a beautiful lake and we hope you can visit us. Give us a call at 772-569-5573.
Thanks
Barbara

Warmer Weather = Active Alligators
With a growing number of people in Florida living and recreating near water, it's increasingly important for us to safely share the water with the alligators that live there. Here are some safety tips for living with alligators.
1. Be aware of the possibility of alligators when you are in or near any fresh or brackish water. Cats and dogs often resemble alligators’ natural prey, so avoid walking pets near bodies of water, and always keep them on a leash at least ten feet from the water’s edge.
2. Swim only in designated swimming areas. Alligators are most active between dusk and dawn, so avoid swimming at night.
3. Leave alligators alone. Handling even small alligators can cause injury.
4. If you encounter any alligator that you believe poses a threat to people, pets or property, call the Statewide Nuisance Alligator Program (SNAP) Hotline at 866-FWC-GATOR (866-392-4286).

Safe Boating Saves Lives!
For our officers, every day is “safe boating day” but May 18- 24 marks the observance of the annual safe boating campaign: National Safe Boating Week. FWC officers will be out in full force educating boaters and patrolling Florida’s beautiful waters. As we head into the summer months now is the time to brush up on your boating safety skills and prepare for an enjoyable and safe boating season.

• WEAR a life jacket.
• NEVER boat under the influence.
• TAKE a boating safety course.
• CHECK your equipment.
• MAKE a float plan.
• USE an engine cut-off switch.
• WATCH the weather.
• BE AWARE of what’s going on around you at all times.
• KNOW where you’re going and travel at safe speeds.
• Have more than one COMMUNICATION device that works when wet.

Stay tuned here for more boating safety updates this week or learn more on your own here: https://myfwc.com/boating/
