Celebrating civil and human rights today as we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The National Center for Civil and Human Rights is rooted in the history of Atlanta: the birthplace of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the modern Civil Rights Movement. The Center is temporarily closed through Fall of 2025 as they undergo an expansion, but it remains an incredible source to connect civil rights history to the ongoing struggle for justice and equality.

The animal care teams at ZooTampa
at Lowry Park will implement cold weather protocols to ensure the animals are adequately protected. While many animals are naturally equipped to handle lower
temperatures, some require additional attention to ensure their health and safety.

The Bornean orangutans receive blankets while panthers get extra bedding. Most of the Zoo’s animals will have access to their heated night houses.

Some of the animals such as bears, and tigers often seem to enjoy the cold weather and show increased activity during these times.
