Victoria ISD is launching a new Attendance Improvement Initiative at Victoria East and West High Schools to tackle chronic absenteeism and boost student attendance. With a current absenteeism rate of 25%, this program is key to improving attendance and academic success.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙉𝙚𝙬:
▪️ Incentives: Movie passes, prize drawings, and more!
▪️ Participation: Attendance required for prom and other activities.
▪️ Community Campaign: Raising awareness about attendance importance.
▪️ Dashboard: Daily attendance updates on our website.
▪️ Updated Policies: New rules for attendance-based exemptions.

𝙋𝙞𝙡𝙤𝙩 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙨:
Victoria East and West will each pilot different approaches, focusing on maintaining a 90% attendance rate to earn and keep privileges. Specific plans and appeal processes will vary by school.

PAINTING, CHEERLEADERS, and GUEST SPEAKERS. What more could you ask for? Come support Viper Athletics and Clubs. STEM Middle is hosting a Viper Spirit Night August 27th 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. All STEM Vipers are welcome to attend with their families. Guest speakers will provide exposure to different athletic STEM job opportunities. Can't wait to see all the students there!

Alternative Bilingual Service will be hosted in the STEM Library August 27th 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

A strong cold front will move through South Texas Wednesday night through Thursday morning with scattered to numerous showers ahead and along the front. Showers expected to diminish through Thursday afternoon. Much colder and windy Thursday through Friday. Saturday will be a couple of degrees warmer but still below normal.

Victoria ISD is committed to the safety of our students and staff and is continuing to work with the Victoria Office of Emergency Management to monitor changing weather conditions and the projected impact of Tropical Storm Nicholas.

At this time, VISD will have a two-hour delayed start time for all campuses:

High School: 9:30 a.m.
Elementary: 10 a.m.
Middle School: 10:30 a.m.

▪️ Breakfast will be available.
▪️ School buses will run two hours later than normal
▪️ Campuses will dismiss at their normal times
▪️ After-school activities will resume

Out of an abundance of caution for our students and staff, VISD will be 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝 Monday, Sept. 13, 2021, due to TS Nicholas.

All after-school activities for Monday are also canceled.

VISD will share information with students and staff via Edulink, and continue to check the VISD website, Live Feed, and social media accounts. Information will also be shared with our media partners.
