Our next brings us a fluke that inspired a name which easily makes sense: JT!

This individual was sighted by our team in 2013. A quick glimpse at the map shows you how far the animal has traveled making the rounds annually from the northern feeding grounds to the southern breeding grounds! Fun fact? JT is a female and was spotted with a calf in 2021! Will this be the year for another babe?!

Alert! If you are planning a trip with us, we temporarily have a new boarding location down the street!

The main annex of the Virginia Beach Fishing Center is undergoing an exciting renovation, which will enable us to better serve your needs.

🚧 Construction is underway! 🚧

New temporary procedures include:
🗺️Departure from the Southside Annex of the Virginia Beach Fishing Center at 416 Southside Road.
‼️Visitors will need to physically navigate stairs and a narrow walkway in order to board our vessels. We will be unable to accommodate wheelchairs, large strollers, and other rolling devices during our interim departure from the Southside Annex.
🚗Parking location will vary with each departure. Please follow signs and directions to the appropriate spot in the grass or gravel. Carpooling is recommended due to limited space.
⏰Arrive 45-60 minutes prior to the trip time to allow for the modified logistics.

Our team members have updated the website and booking site with this current information, and will be reaching out personally to upcoming reservations impacted.

Today’s showcases a well-known Gulf of Maine individual known as Woodpecker. First sighted in VA waters in 2012, this animal frequents the NE throughout the summer, and has recently made appearances in NY & NJ!

Right whale calf #1 spotted off of GA!

Nauset has another calf 🥰 The pair was spotted swimming off the coast of Blackbeard Island, GA on December 1, 2024. Nauset is one of the 70 reproductive female North Atlantic right whales remaining and this is her 5th calf. She must be protected at all costs.

What a weekend! We spent most of Friday and Sunday out at sea. Sightings included a humpback whale, hundreds of bottlenose dolphins, thousands of northern gannets, 4 ocean sunfish, surf scoters, loons, and more!
